Umbilical hernia?
I noticed that Loey has a protruding belly button and when we pushed down on it, it makes a squishy sound.
So we took him to the ped today and they said it's an umbilical hernia. Anyone else's DC have this?
Did it go away on its own?
TIA!

Re: Umbilical hernia?
Yup! My dd had one and my nephew had one. Both went away on their own before they were a year. My 12 week old Bernese Mountain Dog also has one!

Re: Umbilical hernia?
Yup, my DD had one. I want to say it went complety away by the time she was 6 months.
The pediatrician said that it could go away as early as it did, or by the time she was 2.

Re: Umbilical hernia?
Peyton has one. She is 21 months and no sign of it going away. Dr said, she could have it repaired when she is older if she wants, but it is not a concern.

Re: Umbilical hernia?
Yep.
She is 4.5 months now and I want to say it has been gone since 4 months.
Her belly button was HUGE ! It was fun watching it freek people out that volunteered to change her. My friend babysat and I forgot to tell her about it, I came home and she was all concerned that it happened on her watch.

DS has it and he 7 weeks old. The ped said its normal and we are just keeping an eye on it. He also said it usually goes away on its own.

Re: Umbilical hernia?
DD had it and our Ped said she would just grow out of it.
She is now 2.5 and it's pretty much gone.

Sean had it - It went away on it's own. The Ped said they almost NEVER operate on something like that
