ummm....I need an OBGYN -any recomendations?
Yes I just had IVF and YES I dont have an OBGYN
I HAD one for a long time. After my M/C 5 years ago I found out about my cervical cancer 4 months later. I started seeing a specialist and saw him for annual and bi-annual paps for 3 years. I didnt want to go back to my obgyn as I didnt like his approach to my M/C or my cancer.
So last year I needed a pap and I went and found a new dr, a friend used. Had my pap, TTC for a while, went back and she said to wait another YEAR...PLEEAASEEE....So I went to the RE.
NOW....NO OBGYN.
I need some reccomendation from you IF girls who really know what this is like and maybe have a good DR.
I keep thinking, OH no...What if Im PG....LOL LOL ( not really that funny )
TIA!!!!!

I am in the same boat, need a new ob/gyn. Sort of crazy going thru these treatments with the RE, I keep thinking what happens if I get a BFP I have no one to go to!!
I was very unhappy with my gyn during my last few visits and don't wanna go back.

Re: ummm....I need an OBGYN -any recomendations?
I've spent this whole week trying to find one!!
It's hard to believe a bunch of women who know more about the reproductive system than most General Practitioners don't have stand-by OBGYNS!!

I like mine, though I haven't seen her in a while - she referred me to an RE as soon as I had the chemical pregnancy
She is in Long Beach though - Dr Cheryl Solomon

And I left mine after he did an IUI with a blocked tube that looked like a sausage, and then tried to charge me $700 for "incidentals"

Re: ummm....I need an OBGYN -any recomendations?
I have a Dr that was willing to test me after 2 m/c also he said he should give me a PAP and i said I thought you could have one every 3 yrs if they've always been normal. He said yeah the insurance companies don't care if you get cervical cancer but I do! he is very nice-I am going to a specialist now because I felt they would be more able to diagnose me.
The name of the practice is Personal Woman's Care and the Dr's are Dr. Somers and Dr. Halpert. I saw one of the girls compaining about scheduling on the pregnancy board but i have never had a problem. They are in Smithtown off of 347

I don't have one either! Mine just dropped my insurance! But, hey I figure my vagina gets looked at and poked at so often, that do I really need one right now? And, I wouldn't have been turned over to my OB until I was 10 weeks any way!

Re: ummm....I need an OBGYN -any recomendations?
Sad how many of us dropped our OBGYNs for their complete ignorance of our issues.
I dropped mine after:
1. He told me I didn't have PCOS (without doing an ultrasound).
2. Rolled his eyes at me and told me to stop reading books because they "filled my head with ideas" after I told him about my BBT and CM.
3. He told me I didn't need any bloodwork when I got my first BFP and started to miscarry, so we still don't know if it was chemical or viable.
And the final straw:
4. I'm still waiting for a call back from JANUARY when I never got a period on my 3rd round with Clomid. They NEVER called me back after I left 6 messages.
So, am I still giving him my copays? Ummm....no.

I highly recommend Drs. Korn, Taubman and Linkie in Great Neck. they are affiliated with LIJ. I work with them in the hospital and they are fantastic, most of the other nurses use them also..

Re: ummm....I need an OBGYN -any recomendations?
Same thing here. I dropped my OBGYN after him telling me he wanted to double my clomid dose after he had just overstimulated my ovaries with the last dose. Then I started seeing the RE, and who needs and OBGYN then? My RE recommended a bunch of docs for me to try...only one of her recommendations, Dr. Cindy Tobin was on my provider list. She is strictly GYN now, but her practice and another just merged, Women's Health Professionals, so there are like 7 doctors with offices in Woodbury and Great Neck and affiliated with NSUH. I've only had one visit so far and I saw Dr. Henry Prince. I really liked him and I liked the office. Some girls on the PG and parenting boards said they went to that practice and have been very happy. Good luck!
PS After rereading this post, my RE at LIIVF had also recommended Dr. Evan Shapiro and Dr. Taubman, which other people posted.

Re: ummm....I need an OBGYN -any recomendations?
My RE's office is affiliated with the OB office that is directly linked to Stony Brook Hospital. Actually, this office is really part of the hospital. The name of the practice is University Associates in OBGYN, I don't have an OB yet (although I require an MFM and there are several in the practice). They are located in E. Setauket.
Here is a link to Stony Brooks website with the doctor's on it. I'm using the office located at 6 Technology Drive in E. Setauket.

My old OBGYN is now practicing here--Dr. Jennifer Johnson. I absolutely loved her!! She had a baby last year and moved. Now she is part of Stonybrook. So anyway, I am in the same boat. I need to find a Dr. in Nassau, preferably associated with Wintrhop.
