I told DH about you and he thought the name and concept was genius. Considering how much he mocks this site (and used to with LIW), I would take that as the highest compliment an intolerant DH can make.

 For ME, I suck at secrets as it is, but when I get my BFP, and I WILL get it,  , I will do 1 of 2 things: Post immediately out of excitement under my real name, OR if I can conteol myself, keep posting and reading/lurking as I do also under my real name, and once I feel that my pregnancy is well under way, then tell everyone.
I don't get the alias thing myself...if you are pg, just carry on as you always do and tell us when you feel safe. Do you go around wearing a mask or body armor to not get recognized in real life?!

I can definitely understand it on the Pregnancy or TTC boards.
I waited until I was 13 weeks before I mentioned anything on the boards, but that's just me. I am a superstitious person and wanted to wait longer.
Even though I dont know a lot of the people that reveal themselves, I am still happy for them.

When I start TTC I will definitely have to have a fake name. You will all know seconds after my BFP... I can't keep that sort of thing a secret... but I can keep my identity for a little bit anyway. Then again I'll probably screw it up and log in under the wrong name.

I don't mind the fake names, as long as they don't get out of control with the guessing and "taunting." I would never do one though, not my style, and I would probably screw up and out myself anyways.

I don't understand why anybody would get that worked up over it. If the "taunting" ( do people really do that here?) bothers you that much, quit reading the thread. I thought that was the rule of thumb on LIF--"Don't like it? Move on!"
OR get a sense of humor about it? Like Dead Horse. Ask yourself "What would Dead Horse do?"

ITA. People complain about a lot of stuff around here. She was just making an observation. She isn't the moderator, she is stating an opinion. Just as you stated yours. She wasn't claiming to be more "important" than anyone.

As someone who DIDN'T post under a fake name, a friend of mine IRL found out I was pregnant very early on because someone here told told her I was after reading my posts on the pregnancy board. I hadn't even told my best friends yet.
In the end, it was no big deal. But its a little disconcerting when someone can find out your personal business without your telling them. Of course, when you post on here you are opening up yourself to anyone reading it. So if people want to add a little more anonymity to it, so be it.
But I also haven't seen people trying to have others guess who they are. That's just wierd.
