United/Continental?
Which airline would you fly with? How easy/hard is it to get aournd Newark airport for connecting flights? I'm going home to Ireland in Dec & have never flown with Continental or used Newark aiport. Thanks.

Re: United/Continental?
I love Continental for overseas flights.. The terminal is big but it's not hard to get around. That time of year the airports are crowded so just give yourself extra time.

Continental/United are the same airline now. They will be fully merged sometime in 2012 (I believe).

Yes, they are the same.
The Continental terminal at Newark is really nice.
As for connecting there - it depends on how much time and where you are coming from. They have the main terminal and then Continental Express flights fly out of a separate terminal - you have to take a bus between the two so you'd need a little extra time.

Yupp. I've flown United before they merged and they were excellent, definitely one of the better airlines. I'm not sure if they've changed at all since the merger.

Re: United/Continental?
I wouldn't take either. Sorry, I'm no help . If I had a choice I'd take Continental, but only if it were partnered with something else. My mom took United to Australia. It wasn't good. There are better airlines out there for foreign flights IMO.

Re: United/Continental?
They are the same airline now... I just flew them to Hawaii and had an awful experience both ways. The planes were old and uncomfortable. On the way there it was supposed to be direct from Newark to Honolulu (9 hours) and then stopped us in LA and we sat there for five hours making it then a 14 hour flight. They caused us to miss our connection and we couldn't get another flight to Kauai until the following day. We lost out on a night on Kauai and had to move all of our reservations around which is not really something I wanted to worry about.
And the in flight entertainment stunk. On the way there you had a choice of three movies which just repeated and one or two tv chanels that did the same (you couldn't start/stop anything on your own). On the way home they played 2 movies on a screen towards the front of the plane and that was it.
And as for the food options you could purchase food but the options were limited. I have personally never been on a flight that long where they didn't offer a snack at the very least.
But this is just my experience, I know plenty of people who have flown with them and didn't have any issues.
