Re: My Boss has chicken pox AND...
You never had the chicken pox?
I never had it, but I got the vaccine for it (it's two shots).
You should def. call your OB.

If you've had them I wouldn't worry. I would find out what else she has and then just call your doc and see what they recommend doing. Don't panic I am sure everything is fine.

I would find out what other thing she/he has. Maybe it's shingles, just guessing.......Either call your OB and let him/her know.

I was thinking the same thing about maybe having shingles. I don't believe it can affect the baby unless you actually contract it.

I don't think the baby can get chicken pox unless you do while you are pregnant. If you have already had the chicken pox- I think you are fine.

I think the baby is OK since it is still so early, but I would call DR. Bray just to make you fell better. Does your boss know you are PG?

Im going to call the dr as soon as I hear back from my boss. She doesn't know I'm PG (my senior boss does but I haven't told anyone else yet)...I'll keep you all posted! Thanks for the advice!

I don't think you can get the vaccine if you're PG. If you've had it before don't worry. There might be a shot (IgG?) if you didn't and are exposed.

Re: My Boss has chicken pox AND...
OMG it's NOT chicken pox...she has "Bullous Impetigo" I am so grossed out.
Does anyone know anything about this? This is what I found online:
What is impetigo? Impetigo (pronounced im-puh-TIE-go) is a common infection of the surface of the skin. Impetigo is usually caused by the bacteria Staphylococcus ("staph") or Streptococcus ("strep"). Because this condition is more common in children, some people mistakenly call it "infantigo." Is impetigo contagious? Yes, it is highly contagious. Children in close physical contact with each other tend to spread the condition although adult skin is more resistant. Trauma to the skin, such as a cut or scrape, seems to play a role in allowing bacteria that have been living harmlessly on the skin to establish a foothold and cause infection. Clothing and towels seem to be less important factors in causing the spread of this condition.
BULLOUS IMPETIGO produces large, fragile blisters and is caused mostly by staph germs. It also often affects the face, but may appear elsewhere. The blisters it forms have very thin walls that collapse, leaving a bright red, inflamed, moist base. Bullous impetigo is also known as impetigo bullosa and staphylococcal impetigo.

I had impetigo when I was like 10 it was from scratching bug bites too much and them getting infected! I remember it was contagious.
