Re: Would you go the Times Square area with your child/ren this weekend? POLL
I never had worries in the past but I don't know if it's that I'm pregnant and feeling a bit anxious, or if it's just me being a mom, or that Paris is like an adoptive city to me, but I just don't feel comfortable in any city right now.
I'm usually the one preaching that you can't change your life, mthat what will be will be, etc. It's just oddly different this time around.

Thanks!
I don't want my DDs to live in fear and will continue to be an example for them.

Re: Would you go the Times Square area with your child/ren this weekend? POLL
I freak out every time I have to ride the subway but I am trying to live life normally. We are going to watch the thanksgiving parade from my office this year. I will be nervous but hopefully everything is OK. I tell myself there are a ton of different subways running all day and night and I'm only on it for 5 minutes so the chance of something happening is so small... but the worry is still there.

Re: Would you go the Times Square area with your child/ren this weekend? POLL
What's funny is if something is going to happen it's not going to be now while the city is on high alert. I think it's going to be when people least expect it and after all of this news has kind of quieted down. So I actually think the safest time to go would be now.

We have tickets for the Radio City Christmas show in Dec and I asked DH if we should still go. I'm honestly nervous to go and I know it's going to be on my mind the whole time. But at the same time, we can't live in fear, otherwise we'd never do anything.
This exactly. We have tickets for the show this upcoming week. I am very nervous about it but we have all been looking forward to this day. I plan on making the most of my day. As nervous as I am I would not skip the show.

I would not chance it if I didn't. I have a 19 month old dd and I'm pregnant, so no way.

Re: Would you go the Times Square area with your child/ren this weekend? POLL
I answered no on the poll but I should clarify that I wouldn't go on Thanksgiving....the rest of the weekend I think I would. Tgiving will be a nightmare. I hear they have every single cop working and will have extra road closings. It will be crazy. I plan to bring the kids once the tree is lit sometime early December.

No but only because Thanksgiving weekend is going to be complete insanity in Manhattan. I avoid NYC during peak times. We love taking our kids into NYC and if it were not a holiday weekend I would have no problems going.

Honestly with the heightened alerts right now, and knowing NY is a prime target and the latest threats released today about tomorrow's alleged targets, I'd stay home and avoid huge public arenas if possible. And I'm not a real worry wort.

Unless I'm missing something, I don't see any specific US places targeted?

WWE Event tomorrow in Atlanta GA.
"OpParisIntel, the Anonymous campaign against the Islamic State online, released a statement Saturday saying it had uncovered information regarding new terror plots “on Paris and the world” scheduled for Sunday Nov. 22. The group also warned the Islamic State may be planning an attack at the WWE Survivor Series event set to take place in the Philips Area in Atlanta on Sunday night."
Although other news articles are saying the FBI doesn't have any creditable source of the planned attack.

Go. Enjoy. Have fun! I'm a police officer in NYPD in Midtown and there are cops everywhere. We can't control every and all situations but I have an 8 year old and I wouldn't say go if I wouldn't do the same

No- but not because of safety concerns. I hate Times Square during the holidays- way too crowded- especially with the kids.
I will have to bite the bullet someday so they can see all the beautiful things there are to see, but not yet.

I try to avoid going to Times Square regardless of what's going on in the world because I hate tourists and selfie sticks.
Exactly!

Re: Update - we went and we survived. :) Would you go the Times Square area with your child/ren this weekend? POLL
Went to the city yesterday and thankfully it was uneventful. I did see many police by Rockerfeller but otherwise it was very bustling. The threats certainly did not deter the massive crowds in Times Square, Rockerfeller, etc.
:) Happy I did not let my fears stop us and even more thankful nothing happened.

Glad you had a good, safe time. And glad to hear people were out and about as normal and not giving into fear like the terrorists want.
