Went to the city yesterday and thankfully it was uneventful. I did see many police by Rockerfeller but otherwise it was very bustling. The threats certainly did not deter the massive crowds in Times Square, Rockerfeller, etc.
:) Happy I did not let my fears stop us and even more thankful nothing happened.

i'm not going to stop myself from enjoying things because of this. I go to the thanksgiving day parade every year and don't plan on stopping now. Life's too short.

I actually found the people to be fairly nice. We had a random woman offer to take our picture with our cell phone by the "tree" so we could all be in the picture. We had another man strike up conversation with us by the Today show. I was pleasantly surprised by the kindness I saw.

Glad you had a good, safe time. And glad to hear people were out and about as normal and not giving into fear like the terrorists want.
Me too! Yep, I was running errands yesterday and today all over the city and it's true, everyone is still out and about and the normal spots are just as crazy as usual. Glad to hear you had a good time!

Funny bc I saw this post yesteday and of course my we had radio city tickets today I was so undecided what to do and if it wasn't for a special occasion ( we were celebrated a special bday) I know I would habe canceled out of fear. We went. It was amazing. My DD loved. I'm glad we didn't cancel (I almost threw away all that money). I have to admit I was terrified all day yesterday and couldn't decide what to do. Glad we did go.

I work a few blocks away so let me give you my perspective....
I feel that Times Square is actually the safest place in the city right now. There are so many cops, and undercover agents, I'm sure they are very on top of security there.
However,
Times Square itself is a cesspool of shady, grimy individuals, not to mention the insane amount of tourists. Very VERY crowded, and this weekend especially with the parade crowd in town, I would not do it.
ETA: I work in Rock Center. If you can handle the crowds, that is a much better place to bring the kids.
