Update- I chose Dark walnut! Anyone restain their hardwood floors Dark??
I am just curious what color did you choose and did you do water popping.
If I do waterpopping it makes the wood color even darker and richer...just curious if it's necessary?
We are leaning towards Dark Walnut or Jacoben.

I believe my color is english chestnut but I'm not really sure. If you want I can look and see if i have it written anywhere. I have a picture in my album if you want to take a look. I didn't do water popping. Just remember that with dark floors every thng shows From dust to little scratches. Be very careful when moving your furniture around!

Re: Anyone restain their hardwood floors Dark??
When we bought thenhouse they just a few shades darker than blonde. I hated it. We went to red mahogony and LOVE it. We didnt do super glossy because dh hates the gym floor look. So they are shiny, but matte if that makes sense.
Dont know what water popping is, so i cant answer that, and i havent had coffee yet so im not googling anything

we are about to stain our floors early american. Even though i love love love the super dark floors, I have heard mixed things (easlily shows dust and scratches) so we opted for something lighter.
The company we are using came and tested a few colors on the floor to help us decide. I am sure they will do that for you as well.

Re: Anyone restain their hardwood floors Dark??
my parents just went from a lighter color to a dark espresso. It looks nice, they left it on the matte side rather than glossy. I personally think it could of use a light coat of something bc to me its a lil dull but it still looks pretty. My sister did a cherry color and i love it, totally something id do!

Re: Anyone restain their hardwood floors Dark??
ours are like a medium color (pics in album). we originally wanted to go really dark - i'm glad we didn't because i never realized how much dust collects and shows. it's visible and our floors aren't that dark. also not sure if you have pets but that's something to consider. our mostly-white kitty leaves a lot of fur around...

Re: Anyone restain their hardwood floors Dark??
We made the choice this morning. I am having them "waterpopped" and then a dark walnut stain.
I may have to do a lot of swiffering....or need to invest in a good air purifier.

Just a word of "experience". The darker the wood, the more you will EVERY piece of dust. I have darker floors. My contractor told me about it. Oh yeah! He was right!
