Re: I've been officially diagnosed with PUPPP's
Thanks ladies for the well wishes. It has gotten about 10,000 times WORSE since Friday. I am so itchy I don't know what to do. It is from my shoulder blades down to the tops of my feet. Thank God it is not on my face. I called the emergency service last night because I couldn't even lay down and all they said was "oh, you're only 27 weeks, huh?" They told me I can take aveeno oatmeal baths (which I have been doing) and try benadryl tablets and calamine lotion. I will buy those today. The steriod ceam is doing nothing so far. UGH This sux!

Re: I've been officially diagnosed with PUPPP's
Im so so so so sorry...
I too had PUPPS and a very bad case at that!
It took a long time for me to get a diagnoses- since my Dr.'s werent too familar with it when I got it...
I was at the Dr constantly in tears about the itchiness and the loss of sleep I was getting due to the discomfort...
My Dr.'s started me on steroids (prednisone)- the first round was 5 mg./day when that failed they bumped me up to 60mg/day-
Truthfully it took a little while- but a week after being bumped up to 60mg/day -I did feel SOME relief!!!
At 36 weeks we started talking about inducing me and @ 37 weeks 3 days- I had a sched. c-sect.
Part of me believes that the Dr knew all along he was gonna take me early- so the steroids werent only for me, but for the babys lung development as well!!!
If you search through some of my old PUPPS posts you'll find alot of info from other posters and such...
Some things I did that gave me some comfort were:
Aveeno Baths everynight (careful though, they can cause yeast infections)
Scrubbed my body down with Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap (this can be found at mom and pop drug stores) It smells nasty but totally worth it
SARNA CREAM- OMG this was my God send- I went through a bottle every 2 days-
I would sleep with ice packs or cold compresses on my belly
Just keep yourself cool- not tight or form fitting shirts...
Also- fight your DR for every bit of help he can give you... Some many Dr.'s dismiss this like its nothing- "so your just itchy" (errgghhh I heard this from everyone all the time- they have no idea!!!) He can give you creams- and you can get higher doses of steroids.... ASK FOR THEM!!!!
See the thing with PUPPS is that the itching is internal- so there really is no way to "heal" the problem....
The good news is I was no longer itchy the day after I gave birth (that or I was so preoccupied with my beautiful son, I didnt notice )
Anytime you need to "talk" send me a FM!
I feel your pain
(BTW- throw away the benadryl- if its not doing anything now- its never gonna do anything!)

Re: UPDATE!!!: I've been officially diagnosed with PUPPP's
Thanks. I was having a really hard time with it for a bit there. I'm glad there has been some relief, I would never have been able to have it full force for that many weeks without checking into a mental institution!
