for your mom ....Don't even bother going by visiting hours- if it makes you feel better just get there (usually if it is a single person they are very accomodating at most hospitals) ...Hope she gets some answers and is feeling better soon (and try to have a Happy Anniversary  )

OMG! How awful!! I hope they find out what it is and I hope that it is nothing serious. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I just wish you were closer so I could help you in some way!

thanks everyone!!! Grandma has FINALLY finished breakfast and is now in the shower!!!  Why an almost 85 year old woman needs to take a shower EVERY day is beyond me... they say older people shouldn't shower every day b/c it dries their skin out --- but that doesn't apply to her in her opinon 
I must sound terrible--- I just want to get to my mom.  She sounds so upset being in there. Once grandma's out I'm going to grab her lunch pills and we're going to head up to the hospital. From there we'll probably eat lunch out and then go back to the hospital.
I'm hoping my dad is going to come out tonight- he's trying to get payroll together so he can. My brother is leaving for Antigua w/ his wife early saturday morning- and their nanny and I (and my mom) are supposed to take care of their kids this weekend (the nanny doesn't drive). If mom's still in the hospital I'm not going to be much help to the nanny- and Emma has been looking forward to spending the weekend w/ me all week
Plus I have to go see my current RE tomorrow morning to discuss 'next steps' AND (more importantly) get my records... which if I don't then my appointment w/ Dr. K needs to be cancelled..... what is going on!?!??!?!?!?!

Oh my god, you poor thing! You must be terrified! I wish I could hug you! I know EXACTLY how you feel…my mom had a few stints in the hospital and I was SICK every time I had to leave her. I brought my blanket and pillow with me and slept in the chair next to her bed most nights….i can honestly say that so far in my life I have experienced nothing that is worse than watching my mom be sick, get poked with needles, wheeled around the hospital, not be allowed to eat or drink and throwing up. It still hurts me down to my soul when I think about it.
I will be thinking good thoughts for you and your momma. Please keep us updated!

I hope they let her go home but I doubt it.
What hospital is she in now? Why Stonybrook? Is it easier for you to get there?
Why is all of the caretaking falling on you? Your grandma, your niece/nephew..why isn't anyone else helping?
Tell your brother to cancel the trip? That's ludicrous!
