Update-Not checking my luggage-Do you pack shampoo/conditioners etc etc or do you just buy it when you arrive

We are going to Disney in September for 4 nights and I know that the new regulations only allow a small amount of things such as shampoo/conditioner etc, should I just plan to buy it there? Also, does Orlando airport have a store to buy this stuff?

I pack it in my suitcase and not my carry-on bag, that way it's allowed on the plane.

Just be sure to put it inside a ziplock and then an old Target bag, in case it opens.

the airport should sell that stuff, but it will be a lot more $

I always bring my normal stuff. It only has to the specific size if you carrying it on. Checked luggage is not included in the size restrictions. Your hotel would probably sell it, not sure about MCO. There is a hotel in the airport but I don't remember seeing a drug store type place.

I always double bag any sort of liquid product (Shampoo, Conditioner, hair serum, toothpaste, contact solution etc.) and put it in my checked luggage.

This! I always double zip lock them. The one time I didn't wasn't pretty.

I pack it in my luggage. I'm picky about what I use and I am allergic to some things so I do not know if I will find my brands where I am going. I pack a lot less of it than I used to b/c for me the toiletries used to add a lot to the weight of my luggage. With the restrictrions and having a back injury I had to change my ways just a bit. Now I figure that if I do run out I will know my way around by the time it affects me. I used to make sure I had more than enough.

I always pack it! Much cheaper to buy it at home, as long as its in checked luggage you're fine :)

Same here. I learned after the last time. DH's flip flops trailed bubbles the entire trip. Chat Icon

ETA: I'd go for the travel sizes if you're not checking- CVS, Duane Reade, and Christmas Tree Shop have a pretty good selection of travel sized, especially Christmas Tree Shop. There's a whole wall of travel sized stuff in the back right of the store at the Deer Park location.

Oooops, my reply was based on checking luggage but I'd do the same if carrying it on.

Are you using Magical Express? If so could you check a bag - you don't have to go to baggage claim - you check your bag in NY and then it gets put into your hotel room for you (that is IF you are using magical express and staying on site).

I would put travel size in a zip lock - which don't they make you do anyway (I know they did 2 years ago). I find that I go through travel sizes so quickly.

Well the other choice - is that if you are going to disney for a few days have you considered gardengrocer.com - it is like peapod - you could get breakfast, snacks, the shampoos or whatever delivered to your hotel room. But then you would have to either use it up or throw it out.

Sorry this is why I always check at least one bag because I use special shampoo etc and it is too much of a pain to stay in the restrictions with carry ons.

I commend you for taking a trip to Disney without checking bags! We could never fit all we need in carry on's Chat Icon

I wouldn't buy that stuff at the airport. It's probably marked up 1000 percent. If you just need basics like soap, shampoo and conditional, your resort will have that.

I never want to have to worry about buying it there so I bring it (sealed in ziploc bags). But I'll bring a bottle of shampoo and conditioner that's half empty, use it up on my trip, and just toss whatever is left so I don't have to carry it back (more room for whatever souvenirs you buy!)

I usually just use what the hotel has if I'm travelling for a short enough time to just use a carry on to make things easier.

I usually bring travel sized bottles (double bagged as others have suggested) in my carry on, and if I run short, most hotels I have been at give you small bottles of shampoo and conditioner.

yes there are tons of places where you can buy this stuff when you arrive -- hotel usually has a shop but there are food stores, CVS, etc. near the resorts and parks so easy to get to if you have a car/cab it. Best may be to see if you can order it from one of the online grocery companies - garden grocer (and there is another one that I'm forgetting) - so it will just be delivered to your hotel room and there when you arrive

Depends on where you are staying. Disney resorts give you shampoo. I have color treated hear (and I'm allergic to everything) so I bring my own in checked baggage. I used to do carry on only so then I would bring travel sizes.

Now what I do is bring an almost empty full size bottle which I can use up and toss while on vaca, giving me more room in the suitcase on the way back.,
