update on jake** ugh..we went to Good Sam hospital
Wow..I can't believe it. This kid ran a fever--nothing else. As soon as the motrin ran out the fever came back thats it.
Well..I tt the doc 2 days ago and he said if it ran over 104 or if anything else seemed odd and he was not in go to emergency.
He woke yesterday after sleeping 2 hours later...(alarm #1) I went to check earlier and no fever-I thought it broke
well at 8.30 he felt hot-I took him down and checked 104.5.
Ok...I have two- infants --now what? Max is screaming to be held and this lifeless baby is in my arms--I wanted to die-I had my friend come down and we went to the hospital.
Long story short...ear infection and pneumonia!
horrible visit--swab up the nose for flu----
noone could get a iv in my baby--he freaked--they collapsed veins...they jabbed two rounds of antibiotics in his legs at the same time--one nurse so hard his leg then swelled---then blood--ugh..he got to the point he freaked whenever he saw a white coat.
by last night-no fever--thank goodess it was caught early-and no fever today...personality already fine from antibiotics--not that it was ever diff except for yesterday morning..
and this cute baby posed when they took his x-ray--he made his famous fish face when the doc said cheese...
too good hearted.

Ugh, what a night for the young ones.
Hopefully they aren't mentally or physically scarred from the event AND I hope they feel better soon.

oh..hes scarred alright..
he now hates doctors. the part that ****** me off was all the IVs noone could get..after the third I said ok. no more.
So I stayed and gave him bottles so he could pee and they could test. Horrifying.

Oh no What an ordeal!
I often think about what I'd do if one was sick and I still have the other, especially since my DH travels.
Good thing your friend was available to help you out
I'm so sorry Jake, and all of you, had to go through that
I hope he is feeling better

I know what you're going through. We were in Good Sam last month with DS for ear infections and pnuemonia also. I was also getting extremely upset with the ER people there after 4 attempts at getting an IV in and no success and lots of screaming. I even asked if some one from pediatrics could come down and do it and they told me no. But once he left the ER and was in pediatrics, everyone up there was wonderful.
