Re: Update on Jordan and his issues (and mine too)
totally been there.
can i offered some second time around insight?
I had noooooo idea why my marriage crumbled after #1. We fought for 8 mos...a couple who never fought. I could not even look at him.
2nd time around...my 2 week old is so easy. I am rested, baby is good and can be put down...not a single issue between dh and me.
a crying baby can drive people to the looney bin. josh had a milk soy allergy. i remember one night, he had screamed all day unless rocked...and that night screamed through the rocking....i just cried with him...for hours. i did not know what to do. fought with dh that day, a baby who did not smile...it will pass. my 3 year old is a dream.

Thanks! Janice, it's really driving us to pieces - which I know is "normal" in this situation but still beyond sucks!!! I hope things change really really soon!

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this, it's hard enough to be a new mom without this added pressure. Hopefully the formula switch is all you need.

Re: Update on Jordan and his issues (and mine too)
Elizabeth had a milk allergy and the alimentum worked pretty quickly. I weaned her onto it - it was our 4th formula and I found that switching cold turkey was a problem for my diva so I did it over the course of about 4 days. On the 4th day, my previously constipated munchkin released the biggest, messiest poop that still makes me laugh when I think about it because DH was the one who went to change her and it was just the funniest sight...
Anway, I digress.
I knew right at the beginning it was working because she wasn't refusing the bottle like she had when I was giving her the soy formula... and let me tell you I know EXACTLY how you feel when you say you feel like you were poisoning him. I was feeding a bottle of soy formula to E at the precise moment when the allergist told me she had a severe soy allergy. That's EXACTLY what it feels like - feeding your kid, your precious angel, poison.
But it's not. It's a new mommy doing the best she can under less than ideal circumstances.
I hope the alimentum works for you as well as it did for me.

I hope he feels better with his new formula. it's so horrible dealing with these issues and not knowing what is causing them. many for Jordan.

you are so right, it beyond sucks.
i always said being a mom was easy, being the wife to a new father was an effing nightmare.
I could not understand why it was so hard for us to transition to parenthood and others had it so easy...well now I have my easy baby and completely understand. We were amazed the other night that we could watch lost together. We sat there in shock. We never ever watched TV with josh as a baby, or ate together, or really even slept together since i was up all night.
It is going to get better...so much better. Once we solved the allergy problem, the crying stopped...by then he was just spoiled he felt entitled to be held 24.7.
he is the sweetest, calmest boy now. problem free. tantrum free. independent.

Re: Update on Jordan and his issues (and mine too)
We found blood in DD's stool at like 2 weeks old after a few days of hysterical crying. It was not a lot but it was visible to me and DH (tiny red spots) so we knew something was up. The ped suggested alimentum and it worked for us. I noticed a difference within 24 hours - much less fighting. Within 48, she was a new baby. There was still occasional blood in her poop over the first two weeks on alimentum but the ped said if she was otherwise ok and it was less than before, to give it up to two weeks. If there was still blood after that, then we'd go on rx formula, but thankfully we never had to go that route.
Also, for what it's worth, I read a lot of review online of moms saying their kids did great on the ready to feed but could not handle the powder so we do the ready to feed. Just an fyi - you may want to try that first. It is but if it works, it's so worth it. Good luck!!!! I really hope it works for you.
