UPDATE on my 14yr old stepdaughter, for those that have asked...
we went to the eating disorder clinic. it was grueling at times, because she was in complete denial about how little she has been eating and even how much she weight now, 76 lbs, but the drs there were all amazing, and finally got her to admit, as painful as it is, that she is unhappy at how skinny she is, and wants to look the weight of her older sis, who at this pt, is about 45 lbs heavier. we are happy that they didnt have to hospitalize her at this point, for 2wks we are going the outpatient route, and they want her to try and eat anything including all junk food, even candy, as much as she can to just see if she can put on some weight. she was excited about that, since a brownie or a bag of chips are not obviously the usual dinner or breakfast options in our house! she has referrals for a psychiatrist and therapist, to see if on top of the autism/pdd, is there an ocd issue as well. she had a problem with her eye not having the proper reflex so we need to see dr pinchof for that. we go back in two wks to see her test results, and hopefully she can gain some weight by then, or else more intensive treatment may have to be given, but we shall see. i wanted to thank everyone that took the time to write, its been a stressful time, and know she will have a long battle ahead of her, but, she has the support she needs and we are going in the right direction. we feel a lil bit of a weight lifted, and we were so worried she would have to stay there, and how hard that would be for her. she is deathly afraid of doctors, hopsitals, needles, etc and puts up a fight for all exams, but we got thru it yesterday, and happy she could stay home with us and help celebrate our baby dd's 1st b-day next week!

thanks we were there for several hours, but it was a successful start for her. they want her to have 2000-2400 calories a day, right now they averaged her intake at about 430. we have to try to get her to eat anything she will have, and have the boost plus shakes, at least 2 a day. she woke up this morning with a big smile when i served her a 300 calorie brownie and apple juice, and she did eat the whole thing! its a big stress relief for all of us right now to not have to fight over what she should be eating. last nite she had carvel ice cream cake and a boost shake for dinner.

i am amazed by the support of everyone here, it really touches my heart that people have taken the time to post and write with well wishes and kind thoughts and prayers, thanks so much everyone, it really means so much to me. i will keep everyone posted on how it goes with her. so far, so good!
