Update on my mom
I'd like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for my mom. It truly means a lot to me and I truly appreciate it.
Mom was discharged today from the hospital. She DOES NOT have a blood clot. The doctor did a CT scan and determined there is no clot. She apparently swelled because her platelets were low. Despite being low, they were in the normal range for her. She was given a transfusion the other day and appears to be responding to it as the swelling has gone down a lot. Her doctor felt comfortable enough to discharge her today and she will follow up with him on Friday.
It was also discovered that my mom has blocked arteries. GO MOM! Not only does she have a relatively rare blood disorder but she now has heart issues. Mom isn't the healthiest and she still smokes a pack a day. So she has to have a cardiac catheterization done. We're hoping to convince her to get a second opinion and treatment at another hospital.
So my mom is home now resting. Thank you again for all of your prayers. If you could, please say a prayer for her every now and then. I would appreciate it.
Thank you for your support. (I sound like a Bartles and Jaymes commercial!)
On a happy note, I had my 3D/4D sonogram tonight. I'll post the pics on a separate thread.

What about St. Francis Hospital on the NShore they are supposed to be the best for heart issues.

Thanks for the recommendation, kath. I will suggest this to my mom and see if we can find a doctor there who takes her insurance.

Hollie I'm sorry to hear she has heart issues but I'm happy to hear it wasn't a clot. Hopefully she'll take the steps necessary to be healthy.

I'm so glad things are looking up. My Dad had cardiac catherization and later on triple bypass at Mt. Sinai. We have a phenomeonal cardiologist if you're looking for someone.
He did his cardiac rehab at St. Francis and was very happy there too.
YOo and your family remain in my prayers.
