Update on my weaning. Life is crazy.
So, we almost made it a week without any nursing. My boobs and hormones were back in check. I had not dried up yet, but they were not excruciating full either.
Fast forward to tuesday, Josh is in the abulance from the dr office heading to the hospital. Prior to this, at dr office, the LC that I love there tells me if Josh doesn't drink in the hospital, they will put an IV on him....and that he is already going to be on oxygen and monitors....so that was that.
get to the hospital, nurse. he drank like a nut. totally avoided IV.
now, I am drained, nipples cracked.
do you think I am going to fill up again? did he just empty me out????

this has been the week from hell and we are vacationing on Monday. I have so much to do, that I can't concentrate on this weaning again.
(wanted to add...I think Josh is okay, I don't know, going to dr in AM)
they think he has asthma but can't diagnose it.

update friday pm
back to dr today. still wheezing. now he is on steriods and inhaler.
dr also okay'ed fl. just said to take inhaler with me where ever I go.
talked to 2 moms in my building today, their girls have asthma and have been hospitalized before. they gave great tips.
1. first cough, mince garlic and mix with heated honey, give a spoonful. opens lungs
2. raw plain carrot juice.
3. humidifier always in room.
4. money wise and medication wise, first cough hurry up and react to aviod ER.
I am still in a daze.

as for the boobs...they have not filled back up...almost flat. no foremilk at all, just hind milk. that must be a good sign. he asked for it a few times today, but I gave him ovaltine instead and he seemed to enjoy it.

OMG! Janice!! They had to hospitalize him b/c he was dehydrated? Or because of the asthma??

well since his seizure, I can't handle fever at all.
Tuesday, he wakes up with a runny nose and a weird cough.
he wakes from a nap at 11...feels warm, 100.3, give tylenol.
I go out to store, come home to find him out of it. Breathing crazy hard from his stomach.
call dr, I only expected them to tell me its something viral and send me on my way.
They tell me he is in distress and next thing I am in the ambulence heading to hospital. we spent 2 nights there with him on oxygen. fever disappeared the first night.
going to dr tomorrow for more answers.
I get sick thinking of this. The seizure changed my life. Now, worrying about breathing?????
If I was going gray before, I am all gray now.

OMG Janice - I thought I missed a post about Josh - please keep us posted. I'm sure life will never be the same after the seizure - you must be worried sick!

we just got home this afternoon. he is sleeping on couch now.
I can't put him in his room. I swear from day 1 this kid wanted to co sleep
I am soooooo nervous that my body is going to wean all over again. He was soooo happy to nurse. He got up and stood in the bed at the hospital and did a happy dance.
So emotional. My heart BREAKS for parents of sick kiddies. To be in that place day in and day out.

thanks. No infection, clear of pneumonia.
it takes 3 more hospital visits to call it asthma they said.
he is on a treatment now, so we do to dr in am to figure out what to do from here.
(i could have used help, the staff did not believe me that he was a crib jumper till he finally did it! He leaped out to slap me across the face!!!! Leo caught him mid air. I could not pee unless someone was in the room standing near the crib!

Oh Janice! I am so sorry you got so far and this had to happen. I know how much you were looking forward to getting your body back. I hope Josh is on the way to recovery and you can wean well.
I know what you mean about the happy dance about nursing. It is so funny how excited they get about it now that they are old enough to express it.
Good luck! I'm here if you want to vent. And BTW, you weaned in one week?

that one nurse session on a hot morning with my period was all that I needed!!
I knew it had to be all or nothing. then next day was horrible at naptime. after that, he would point to them, I would say no and smile, and he ran away.
I was completely in the clear. then this.
I haven't nursed since coming home though and don't plan on it since he ate all his dinner tonight.

Oh gosh! How SCARY!!! I cant even imagine. Megan fell out of her sandal today and limped around for like 2 minutes and I was almost hysterical!!!
I feel for what you are going through in every way and I hope Josh is ok!! Sending you TONS of hugs!!!!!!

I just want to give you hugs from someone who's been there. I took DS to ped in Jan when he had some labored breathing and was surprised to get sent by ambulance to the hospital where he spent 3 days in prediatric ICU on nebulizer treatments. While my DS did have a touch of pnuemonia, this was one point in a long line of breathing problems for us and they labeled it as "probably asmtha". DS also had allergy tests done and they came up negative. I know how it feels when you can't do anything for them and you're not even sure if that's what they have. Good luck with weaning and your trip!
