Update on Police Shooting.
Umm my mom just called after listening to a press conf. on 1010 wins. The guy is still at large. He not only shot the police officer but, then got into his car, sped off and stopped another random person, carjacked him, shot him in the head and stole his car.
He then pulled over a ran off on foot. They have a vague description and aren't even sure what he is wearing. That is so terrifying!!!

ETA: text of article. An intense manhunt is under way for the person who shot a Nassau County emergency services officer Tuesday. The shooting took place right on the border between Nassau County and Queens near the southbound entrance ramp of the Cross Island Parkway. Authorities said Officer Arthur Lopez, 29, was trying to stop a car he saw leaving the scene of an accident.

(credit: Sophia Hall/WCBS 880) “Regular traffic stop, the cop stopped the car basically, and by the time he walked up to the car, he opened fire on him,” witness Paul Walcott told 1010 WINS’ Al Jones. Walcott said the officer was thrown back and crumpled to the ground as the vehicle sped off, Jones reported. Lopez was rushed to North Shore-LIJ Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The suspect fled the scene and then shot another motorist in an apparent carjacking while trying to get away, 1010 WINS’ Carol D’Auria reported.
That motorist was shot and killed near the Cross Island Parkway and the Belmont Park Race Track. A massive search is under way for the gunman. Officers are going door to door in with search dogs in Queens Village. The NYPD and FBI are assisting in the search for the gunman. “We’re still gathering information,” said New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. “The information that I have now is that two Nassau County police officers were traveling north on the Cross Island Parkway. They get to between Hempstead Avenue and Jamaica Avenue, they see an accident take place. They follow one of the vehicles involved in this accident that left the scene. At a location at 241st Street and Jamaica Avenue, which is in Nassau County, a shooting takes place, the details of which we’re still in the process of gathering. It also appears that it’s a possibility that one of the people – the driver involved in that shooting – goes back to the Cross Island, goes south on the Cross Island and in the vicinity of Hempstead Turnpike and the Cross Island may have shot another individual. We found a body there with one bullet wound to the head. Obviously this investigation is still very active.” The Cross Island Parkway was shut down in both directions as part of the investigation. Click here to check current traffic conditions. Several schools in the area placed themselves under “shelter in” status as the hunt for the suspect continued. Students there were not allowed to go outdoors, but they have since been sent home.

Terrifying. I am at work right near at least one of the schools that was on lock down. We have open school night here tonight. I hope everyone is safe and that they find this guy soon.

Re: Update on Police Shooting.
Completely terrifying.
Probably some nut high out of his mind on drugs.
I hope no one else gets hurt and my thoughts go out to that officer's family, and the other one who was killed.

Re: Update on Police Shooting.
Such a stark contrast between some of the best of our society - the heroic officer and the innocent man who thoughtfully pulled over to talk to his daughter on his cell phone, as to not break a traffic law.
Then, there's the lowest form of filth - the scum who murdered them. He is the exact opposite of the two men whose lives he took. It's disturbing.
