UPDATE: Ready to pull all the stops
I just feel so helpless in TTC, that there is literally nothing I can DO to make myself get pregnant, so, I was thinking, I'd like to spend one month doing as much as I can to give me a sense of control (even if it is a false sense). The last couple of months I gave the OPKs a break (at DH's request), we went on vacation, relaxed, still no luck. So, while I"m not out yet this month (AF hasn't shown, but 3 neg hpts so I am expecting her any day).
Here is my plan for next month, please let me know if you have any tips or old wives tales I can add into the mix. I think having a plan for the month is going to make me feel like I am doing everything I can to get a BFP this month!! TIA
Whole month: -No alcohol -No caffeine (or at least a reduction from my usual, maybe switch to tea from coffee) -Temping -Pre-Natals, of course (and DH is on multi-vitamin) -Lots of sleep -Regular exercise / yoga schedule
CD 1-7 (during AF's visit and after) Drink 1 cup Raspberry Leaf tea until ovulation CD 8, start OPKs CD 10-24, BD every other day (doctor's instructions). Will use mucinex and pre-seed (as necessary). DH will have a cup of coffee before DTD. After high reading on OPK, days 1-5 dpo, pineapple core smoothies for breakfast
Anything else I can do?? Advice is welcome but please don't flame for taking myself too seriously. It's really an exercise in control (in a situation where I no I don't have any).
UPDATE: I got my BFP!!!!! I am kind of in shock. Tested Sunday morning and got a very faint line and we were heading out for a three day camping trip and DH wanted to get on the road and wouldn't stop to get me another test!! So I had to go three days without testing, away in the wilderness, and as soon as we got home today I raced to get a test at CVS and got a very fast, very dark positive. I can't believe it.

Ready to pull all the stops
Sorry you feel helpless. I did not stop doing things such as drinking coffee or alcohol during TTC. Use fertility friend app it worked twice with me (although 1st time I ended up having a miscarriage). Best of luck to you and lots of baby dust.

Re: Ready to pull all the stops
Thanks, Ladies! I figure cutting out the alcohol and caffeine for a month won't kill me, even if it doesn't actually help, it can't hurt. It's something I can do, why not.
I use FF also and will continue to update. Thanks!!!

Ready to pull all the stops
One thing I did do was switch from FF to Ovia - I don't remember but one of the other girls on here recommended, I love the ap. I am also using the pregnancy ap they have.

Ready to pull all the stops
I would start temping and try Deanna's plan (google). If you have been going at it for a while, there may be a chance you are missing your O date. OPK are not always 100% accurate. I noticed that I actaully ovulated 3 days after receiving a solid smiley.

Do you temp? Bc of temping I found out I o'd day 16, when I could have sworn it was day 13 or 14, so I kept missing it bc we stopped bd'ing on like the 13th day. The first month we bd'd through day 16 is when I got preggo.

I get my smiley around day 15/16.. and pretty much stopped after that. I do the day after and go by ewcm.. and I don't temp. I'm think too all over the place to get the temp thing right

Re: Ready to pull all the stops
It's not as bad/hard as it seams. and def worth it, OPKs are not 100% accurate and don't tell you if you have ovulated, they only detect signs leading up to it.

I agree, also buy preseed, sperm friendly lube. I wouldn't stop anything until you get a BFP, personally, but like you said can't hurt, good luck

Re: Ready to pull all the stops
Thanks for all the support ladies!!
AF came yesterday, so I started temping today. It's not so bad; I think I can do this. Really curious to see how the OPKs and temping shape up on my chart at the end of the month.
I wouldn't normally be inclined to give up coffee and alcohol, but skipping a month won't hurt me. Except for the caffeine-withdrawals.
I was thanking God yesterday that I quit smoking a long time ago and don't have any other vices. It is so hard to break a habit like that and the withdrawal is actually painful. I would do anything for a BFP, but it's so hard!!

Re: Ready to pull all the stops
I would try Deanna's plan instead of just the "every other day"

Re: Ready to pull all the stops
My only other recommendation is don't do anything oral below the waist. Saliva is not good for sperm.

Re: Ready to pull all the stops
Switch to decaf tea (no caffeine) and avoid artificial sweeteners. Once ovulation(had FET cycle then surprise pregnancy post partum) occurred I tried to eat a lot of warm or hot foods(oatmeal was my BFF for breakfast and lunch). FiJi water at room temperature and tropicana oj was pretty much all I had while cycling. I was also on baby aspirin, prednisone(a steroid).
to you!

Ready to pull all the stops
My husband took a lot of supplements: L-Carnitine, L-Arginine, CoEnzyme Q10. He ate Brazil nuts for selenium. He limited the alcohol, I cut it out completely, I cut out all coffee. We also DTD 6 straight days before/during/after I ovulated. Check out the Better Baby Book by Lana Asprey
