**UPDATE*** SO Angry at RAYMOUR & FLANIGAN. VENT. and WWYD??
update: I've decided to cancel the order, but I put in a formal complaint to corporate and the regional manager will know, also.
I was told my corporate that the couch is on back-order, and tons of people are waiting for this couch. The corporate lady said she has no idea why the sales guy would ever promise it coming in 3 days... she says people having been waiting for a month now.
I called the store and they said they sent out an e-mail to the warehouse to try to locate one. I said I still want to cancel it. I have to now go down there today in person to have them credit the card back.
I HATE facing these azzholes.
Send me some internet cojones...I need some more!!
I've had my eye on a new sofa that is usually out of my budget...but I have eyed it for awhile and finally went down there to order it. I saved up and was so excited. I despise waiting 6 weeks for furniture; I don't feel I should have too with the high price of furniture these days, and I love R&F for the very reason of 3 day (or less) delivery GUARANTEED.
I ordered my new sofa the other day and was told that it would be ready by tomorrow. I tripled checked and asked, "are you sure? I'm on a rush here, I'm having company come Sunday and I'm only here ordering it now because of the 3day or less guaranteed delivery." I was assured it would be ready and delivered -- -not Saturday, but FRIDAY.
When they looked it up to put it in the comp, it said it was out of stock. The guy made a few calls, spoke to his manager, and was told it would be ready - they found one for me. I asked again, "Are you SURE? I have my not only my INLAWS coming, ( i was trying to joke around) but a bunch of other company...please, you are sure it will be there at my house on Friday? If not, let me know, and I will just come back another day and I will deal with you then, so you get the sale."
Again, I was told don't worry, the couch will be in for sure.
When I went to the separate section with the sales guy to pay, the woman at the desk said it was out of stock. The sales guy, who was still with me, said to the woman that yes, the comp wasn't showing it was in stock, but they found one for me and to put through the order. She did.
I thought for a second that maybe they were gonna send me the floor sample, but I didn't ask, as I didn't care that much -- it was in excellent shape. Just give me my damn sofa in 3 days, because that is what you guys always promise and advertise.
I get a call today that the couch will not be delivered tomorrow, BUT SOMETIME EARLY NOVEMBER, as it was NOT IN STOCK.
I had a fit!!!!!! I said I never would have ordered it if I had known this would happen!! I said, "what happened to that whole 3 day or less delivery guarantee?" and I was told that that is only for items in stock....and I said, 'Well, I was told numerous times that you guys found one for me and it would be here on Friday!"
I was told by the supervisor that the sales guy shouldn't have made such false promises, etc, but where does that leave me?
Absolutely ridiculous.
I'm FUMING. I feel like canceling that order and having that sales guys lose his commission, just out of spite.
I know so many slimeballs are just trying to make a quick buck, but give me a break. This guy knew how much I needed that couch and I feel like he still swindled me.
I come off as so sweet and nice and doormat-ish in person, and I feel I always get taken advantage of. I'm sick of it.
People make me so annoyed sometimes.
Would you cancel the order??
What do you feel I should get in compensation of this - a "sorry" is not good enough.

I would be fuming right now and out of spite i would probably cancel the order and then get it with another sales person at a different raymour so he doesnt get the commission since he lied.
Do you mind posting a pic or a link to the one it was as i am in the process of looking for couches and that is one store i went to yesterday.

See I have learned to live for this situations because I tell them you are going to take money off or I am not taking it and I am going to tell everyone I know what a horrible company you are.
I think I have won every single time. You start nice and then get nasty!
ETA-Oh and I start liooking on their website for corporate info and start calling corporate offices. If it's not on their site Google it. They don't like hearing things like this.

I also would cancel out of spite but I don't know whether that's the right or wrong way to handle this. I am really angry for you. What bad business practice to promise the sun, moon and stars for a sale...but I guess that's not uncommon. I would write letters to the higher ups at raymour and flanigan and let them know what this sales person did and how they've lost you as a customer. If you really love the couch then I agree with a pp who said to order it again but I'd probably go without a different store all together.

THIS!!!! I would absolutely call corporate and tell them exactly what happened. I would say you relied on their salesman's word it would be here by x date and now your people are switching the story around. I would say I want a % reduction in the purchase price refunded for my aggravation.

Yes I would absolutely cancel the order even if it screwed me in the long run. I dont go for games.
BTW, I went into R&F and was sooo turned off by the pushy salesman. And yes, they said 3 days, no problem, but then added in...not for custom items. Ok thanks. So big whoop then.
And honestly I would NEVER buy a floor sample. i dont want something someone's A$$ has been on, esp in these bedbug days, kwim? But that's a personal opinion.

I think I would first go down to the store hoping the salesperson you spoke to was there, flip out on him & cancel the order. But I am irrational sometimes!

Totally agree, but alot of the times there are bugs in warehouses too...

I would have them send you a couch tomorrow...any couch that you can live with for the day. Then when your couch comes in they need to swap it free of charge.
And I would tell them the only way you will continue with the order is a discount of 20% on the original couch you ordered.
If they don't comply, cancel the order and take your business elsewhere.

If the floor model is acceptable, I would tell them we wanted the floor model delivered asap, and of course, with a big discount. I did this with a kitchen set, it was ordered, supposed to be in by x date, it wasn't. They ended up giving me the floor model, which was in great condition for about 50% of the price. Edited to say - this was not at R&F, but another furniture store.

I'd go down there personally and have HIM cancel the order so he knows you were pizz ed. (It would make me feel better if nothing else)
Then I'd go back to a totally different store, and reorder it.

Please-I would walk right up to that same sales guy and tell him, "hi, I'm back to cancel the order because your warehouse called and told me they could not deliver by Friday. They told me to come down to cancel, so here I am, how do we handle?".
I would WANT to face him and let him know directly. He sold you a bill of lies, now he can refund it.
