Angry and Need To Vent ...
I'm so sad right now. We took the kids to the Sayville "Miracle on Main" event tonight, and we were really looking forward to going. While walking down Main Street, we saw a Carousel. My daughter (5) got so excited, so we got on line for a ride. When it was our turn, my husband took my son (who is 8 and disabled ... seizure disorder, ataxia, apraxia, functional deafness and developmentally delayed) and proceeded to find him a horse while my daughter found her own. Greg (DH) proceeded to stand next to my son who (for obvious reasons) could not take the ride alone. Well ... this little twit of a ride attendent ... proceeds to head toward DH and nastily tells him to leave the ride ... no adults allowed. He tells her that my son is disabled (not too hard to figure out) and that he cannot ride alone. (Now mind you ... prior to our ride ... I saw lots of parents stay on with their children.) He mentions this to her and she says SORRY ... no can do. You need to get off. He tells her that my son cannot ride alone for safety reasons. She says "Oh well ..."
At this point, he proceeds to remove my hysterical son who just wants to ride. Out of nowhere, a man comes along and says "Wait a second and proceeds to guide my husband to the other side of the ride." He then asks his wife ... who is riding in one of those seats with their toddler son ... to leave the ride and let my son and DH ride. She happily jumps up with her baby and says "No problem."
I wanted to cry. The generosity of these kind people will never be forgotten ... and the cruelty of the snooty little heartless b@@@@ that evicted my child will not be forgotten either. God Bless that kind couple and their loving child!
There is no compassion in the world anymore. It's such a shame. It breaks my heart.

 Absolute ignorance on their part. If you know the carnival company, please, please, call them & let them know what happened with the attendant. Your son has rights too.
and KUDOS for the man & his wife for standing up for your son!

I don't understand...why would they tell your DH he had to get off when there were other parents on at other times? Makes no sense. I would hate to disrupt the ride for other kids or make a scene with my kids or any kids present but there is no reason your DH & DS should have been "asked" to get off, I would have been hard pressed to leave. How obnoxious! I'm sorry you had to experience this.

We kept asking the same question ... why did she allow the other parents to ride? She wouldn't answer. She just kept insisting DH had to get off and that she wouldn't start the ride until he did. If you knew me, you would know it took everything within me not to create a major scene. However, there were tons of children around and this wasn't the time or place. I was getting louder and louder arguing with the woman and my son was already upset enough.
I sent a letter to the Sayville Chamber of Commerce and I called them yesterday. The Present of the COC called me last night and said that he would call the Amusement Company today to address this issue. He wasn't too pleased with my story. He mentioned that they also use this company for their SummerFest and that could end if this is their policy. So ... I guess that will have to be my satisfaction.
My son faces a lot of obstacles in life everyday ... riding a carousel shouldn't be one of them.

That is just awful!! I don't understand why they had to make a big deal.
But it was so heartwarming to hear about that beautiful family that helped you out - there are angels everywhere.
