UPDATE: Soooo F*CKIN* Pi$$ed with ILs right now....They drove w/out a carseat
I had just come back from a Dr's appt, so I guess when daycare owner couldn't find me at work or on cell, she called my ILs.
When I got back to my desk my FIL left a message but just said he'll call me back. I called but no one was there. A few min later daycare calls me again at 2:35pm to say Nate has been threw up three times and just got the runs. They think it's a stomach virus bc one of the other kids went home early yesterday with the same thing. I tell her DH is subbing at a HS but gets out at 2:50 and I'll call him to pick Nate up immediately.
Talking to DH at 2:55pm and he's on his way to pick him up. As he pulls up to the daycare, he sees his parents holding Nate. He checks on Nate and says let me get the carseat so you can take him with you (DH was going to take Nate there tonight anyway bc he has a meeting). When DH goes to the car, they say we don't need it we need to get him home....AND THEY PULL OFF!!!!
I start yelling at DH saying W T F???? Why the he!! would they pull off, it would have taken 5 minutes to put in the car. I tell him that when he picks up Nate he needs to say something to them... DH says lets just leave it alone and that's when I hung up on him.
Sorry for the long rant.... I'm just so pi$$ed right now.
Update: DH called me later yesterday afternoon and apologized. He said I was right and he needed to say something to his parents. When I called to check on Nate, I told my MIL that they should have waited for the carseat. I told her that if they don't have a carseat that they are not to drive with Nate. I went to ILs after work to wait for DH and when he got there he talked to his dad.
My ILs had a carseat but the car that it was in was rear ended last month. When my FIL told me the carseat was in the trunk, I told him to throw it away. DH and I are going to buy them another one this weekend to replace the old one.
Nate's doing better no throwing up or runny diapers since 8pm last night....

Re: Soooo F*CKIN* Pi$$ed with ILs right now....They drove w/out a carseat
Oh no..you are SO RIGHT and they are wrong!! OMG what possesed them to do such a thing? OK so he's sick I understand but apparently they were so worried about him being sick they just took off, which means they may not be focusing on the road as they would be normally. Plus it's illegal! I would call them yourself and calmly but firmly let them know he HAS TO AT ALL TIMES be in a car seat in a car, no matter what.
I hope Nate starts feeling better soon, too!

Re: Soooo F*CKIN* Pi$$ed with ILs right now....They drove w/out a carseat
Sounds to me like Grandma and Grandpa need a Cosco Carsear for Christmas. We just bought ones for my parents and the inlaws. There about 40 bucks and are a booster with a harness and then convert to a booster when he's older with a belt.
I'm sorry they did that.
Jack had the same thing last week and it killed me to put him in the carseat especially when he just wanted to be held. My mom looked at me like I was evil for doing it so I think its just a generation thing but she understood.
I highly recomend pedialyte and suppositories to help his belly. It worked wonders for Jack.
Againm I'm so sorry they did that! Maybe you can put in your daycare contract that if Nate leaves with your inlaws they must confirm their is a carseat from now on.

Re: Soooo F*CKIN* Pi$$ed with ILs right now....They drove w/out a carseat
OMG! I can't imagine they would leave when a car seat was completely available!! That is nuts!!!!!!!!!!! I would TOTALLY say something to them after you cool down if your DH isn't willing, that is unacceptable and they need to know it can't happen again. Sounds like they were freaking out bc the baby was sick and wanted to get him home but that is not the time to panic when you're about to put a child in the car. I would be livid as well, I am so sorry

Ditto!!!!!!! But first I'd kill dh for even putting your baby in that situation. DH needed to get that car seat in their car regradless of if he jumped on their car. Leave the issue alone..... OH NO!!!!!!!! His parents need to be told!

Re: Soooo F*CKIN* Pi$$ed with ILs right now....They drove w/out a carseat
Sadly, I see so many people driving babies without carseats. If I were a cop, i would pull over each and every one of them and have them arrested for endangering the welfare of a minor. That is pure neglect. Sorry to sound so harsh but too many children get hurt. If your DH doesn't address this issue, I would. I couldnt let them drive with him again until the seat was in the car.

I would have been so incredibly angry. If DH didn't say something, I would. They need to know that it's unacceptable.

I would be beyond furious, and I would let daycare know under no circumstances is your son to leave with your IL's. Non-negotiable. I wonder why g-parents would put their grandchildren at risk. Your husband is completely WRONG and I would have no problem telling my ILS I was ******.

Re: Soooo F*CKIN* Pi$$ed with ILs right now....They drove w/out a carseat
They need to be told in no uncertain terms that they are never to drive without a carseat again. God forbid, something should happen. As a grandparent, I am appalled that they would take such a chance with the life of their grandchild. As a matter of fact, they should have had one of their own by now. If they are taking of your son and they need to go somewhere, they need to have him in a carseat. I wouldn't even think of leaving the driveway without my grandson in his carseat. Your husband needs to speak up. The safety of his son is on the line.

Wow, I would have been FURIOUS. I understand that they wanted to get him home quickly because he was sick, but an extra 5 minutes for his SAFETY is incredibly important.

I completely understand that you are mad, I would be too. As a matter of fact, the only people who have driven the baby are me and FH (which I have to let go a little). I would have DH say something or I would. Or buying the carseat might be a good idea too. Good luck and I hope he feels better soon.

Re: Soooo F*CKIN* Pi$$ed with ILs right now....They drove w/out a carseat
*IF* we trusted our ILs (either side) enough to let them pick up our DCs, and they did that, they would never be allowed to drive with the kids again, and even visits would be supervised after that. There is absolutely no excuse for putting a child's life at risk like that. I don't care if "That's how we did it when you were a baby.".... My baby, my rules (as well as federal and/or state rules).
DW never has to worry about me not screaming at my mom, or ILs... I'm constantly correcting my mom from doing things we don't like or want. It's never been anything dangerous, so I haven't had to be confrontational, but I've spoken to her several times about minor things.
