Me too, lol. I HATE it. And he doesn't even know my last name so he leaves that area blank for me to fill in...I would so prefer cash but i guess it helps in a way b/c then I just deposit the checks instead of letting cash burn a hole in my wallet, lol!

I don't blame you for being a little put off. Sounds like the situation was originally set up for 3 hours a day, period, right? Not variable times not to exceed 3 hours, right?

I would definitely ask if you're going to be working 3 full hours (and getting paid 3 full hours Chat Icon ) regulary, b/c if not, b/c you rely on that money.

Good luck!

I think it depends on the deal you made. Since it seems to be hourly, you should be paid for the full hour.

I would say something because in the end, it's costing you money that you could otherwise be earning elsewhere.

He's been dollar wise & pound foolish. Everyone knows good babysitters are hard to come by. If you have one you like, you pay her rate & throw in a couple of dollars.

I'd say since you allot that time to be with those kids that you should get paid for the full amount of time. You have made a commitment and you stick with it....they should stick with the 3 hours pay as they have agreed to as well.

OMG ask him how he would feel if his boss docked him pay for leaving work early!!! What a loser! Speak to the wife, she would be mortified!

I have been there, I know how cheap people can be , but you need to speak up and stand up to them, otherwise they are going to take an advantage of you being nice, I 've done full time babysitting and I still do some Sundays for $15 per hr. From 12-6 that's 6 hrs and they pay me $100 instead of 90 and even if they decide to let me go home early, they still pay the same($100) and I wouldn't do it any other way. You need to talk to them BOTH don't talk just to the husband , make sure she is there, too. Tell them that you are counting on that money and you can't work for less than what you originally agreed on and just b/c he gets home early that is not your problem and you should still get full amount.
( if he gives you $5 less every week, in for weeks that's $20 , you could buy something nice for yourself for $20Chat Icon
GOOD LUCK

To protect your own butt, and to make this a professional gig, I would write up a contract. Tell them you would feel more comfortable if you all had something in writing to work with. Discuss ALL the things that are happening, and say you need a minimum of a specific amount to make it worth your while for the day....

Re: UPDATE: Speak up or let it go?

Have you reminded him that you get $15 an hour and that he shorted you last time he paid you? I would try that option with the Dad before taking it to the Mom

Re: UPDATE: Speak up or let it go?

Thanks ladies Chat Icon

I think it bothers me so much lately because I really really play and interact with their 2 kids as if they were my own. We do whatever they are up for, never sit and watch TV..I mean i REALLY feel I make my moneys worth at the end of those 3 hours, lol.

I do feel he should round up and not nitpick..it makes me feel badly..its more than worrying about 5 bucks...it kind of feels to me as if its a reflection of my worth to them and it's annoying!

Ugh, this would make me annoyed. I was in a similar situation where they would come home half hour late and not pay for it and would come home 15 minutes early and dock me also....Chat Icon Say something!
