UPDATED (in original post)! - prayer request for Dad
Some of you might remember that I posted that my Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer about three months ago.
He started treatment and has finished two cycles of chemo. We have had ups and downs, which I have learned all too well is part of dealing with a disease like cancer.
Today he is getting his first set of scans since starting the treatment. We will get the results tomorrow morning. Please pray that we get good news - that the drugs are working! This would be the best Christmas gift anyone in my family could ever get.
Thank you so much!!!
***UPDATED 01/03/07 ***
Sorry it's taken me so long to post an update. After posting this I went to the facility my Dad is getting treated at to be there when we got the scan results (12/21) and his treatment and then went to their house for the holidays. I wasnt' really online until I got back home.
Anyway, they had told us that good news would be that things were as they were when we started (no growth and no new sites) and that we shouldn't expect a lot more than that since it had been only two cycles. Well - his tumor markers (blood test) decreased significantly. The scans showed tumor in his pancreas shrank considerably. There are no new sites and there was no new growth. So, Christmas came early for us!
Thank you so much for your prayers - and please keep them up! They are making a difference!! While we got good news, Dad still has a long way to go. His tumor markers went down a lot, but are still high, and need to go down a lot more! And, the cancer has a lot more shrinking to do too!
I hope you all had wonderful holidays with your family and that 2008 brings you everything you are hoping for!
