UPDATED- LONG!!! Anyone ever flush their e-ring/wedding rings down the toilet?

I can not believe this is happening. I'm pretty sure I flushed my E-ring & wedding band down the toilet. I take them off at night because my fingers swell overnight, but I usually put them on right when I wake up. Well, I decided to clean up before I put them on, and I had a bunch of paper towels that I used to wipe down my desk. I remember picking them up so I could wipe down the desk, but then I threw the paper towels in the toilet & got annoyed because that always clogs the toilet when we throw paper towels in there. Sure enough, it got clogged & I used a plunger to fix it until it went down. I didn't even think about the rings because I was side tracked with the toilet. I went to get them today & realized they were gone!!! We TORE THE HOUSE APART LOOKING FOR THEM!!! I'm pretty sure I absent-mindedly flushed them.

Has anyone ever done this? And is there a way to get them if they did go down? DH is going to call a plumber tomorrow to see if there's any hope. I've been crying all day. Please if you have any experience with this, I could use some nice words.

My husband did this to my daughters e-ring. We had a plumber come by a few hrs later and open the pipes in the crawlspace. Unfortunately they weren't there.

some toilets have whats called a trap in it where bigger things can get caught which is why sometimes using a plunger doesnt work...if that is the case a plumber would be able to get the rings out for u

I dont have any experience with this but I just wanted to wish you luck in finding them. Try not to beat yourself up about it, mistakes happen.

Thanks everyone. I'm still crying over here. We are hoping that maybe it's trapped but I don't want to get my hopes up.

I dropped the charm from a necklace in the toilet and flushed it and never saw it again. Good luck!!! I hope you find it!!!

OMG I am so sorry I had something similar happen my husband dropped my e ring in the bay when we were jet skiing....after a long search and praying to Saint Anthony we found it...I hope you do too I will say a prayer for you...I know how devestated you feel it is horrible

Ok, so the guy came & checked that trap that was outside in our backyard. I never even knew it was there. He vacuumed it out with the wet vac & found nothing.

We live in a townhouse development, so he said we have our own sewage treatment plant. We actually pass by it everyday, and never knew what it was. He said if the ring went down the pipes, all the water/sewage has to get filtered through that plant. DH is going to call the guy who works there and probably walk over there to let them know how devastated I am and to please be honest if he finds it, and not keep it. He's going to offer a reward to anyone who finds it & turns it in. He's being so great about it. I mean, he's not happy that it happened, but he's more upset about how sad I am. So, that's kind of our last hope........That my rings are somewhere down the block swimimng around in a pile of crap. I don't care. If they find them, I will disinfect them & proudly wear them again!!!!!

Oh I am so sorry :( I hope they are able to find them. I actually flushed my keys down the toilet. I COULD NOT BELIEVE they just dissapeared. there were like 15 keys and a gucci keychain heart on it and everything. Even my car clicker - SWISH - Gone! I had to have my car towed to have a new key made LOL Eventually we did find them in the trap. Yuck. Good luck!!!

So, after 3 days of searching like crazy, dissecting our room & every other spot in the house, getting a plumber to use his camera to see down our pipes 100 feet in both directions, I can not believe what I saw. The desk in the pic had been stripped down and then I put everything back piece by piece. I even looked under the keyboard. Jay looked on the desk, under it, around it....Nothing. This desk was completely clean. Nothing was on it! Jay & I were changing Trevor tonight & getting him ready for bed when I glanced over & saw a receipt with a shiny object poking out. Knowing that I hadn't put anything on that desk, I looked closer & my knees buckled. There were my rings! I had to take a picture because there is NO WAY that I missed it. Anyone who's looking for something on a desk, who cleans it off completely, would not just place a receipt folded in half with 2 rings in it without noticing. As you can see, it is in plain sight! We sat there dumfounded. I can not believe I was looking at my rings that I thought were sitting in a sewer down the block. I still can't believe it. Jay swears that he did not put them there.
Now, while I'm not a religious fanatic, (and to my Mom's dismay I will admit I haven't prayed hard in months,) I can tell you that I prayed when I left the house tonight to pick up milk. I just asked that if my rings were going to be found, that He show them to me tonight even if it was only in a dream, and if they were not to be found, then to please give me some sort of peace about losing them because I have been sick over it. Well, 25 minutes later, I come home & there were my rings. Right there. Jay swears they weren't there before either. Believe what you will, but I have no doubt that this was some kind of divine intervention.
Look at the picture. If you were looking for something on a desk, is that something you would've just overlooked? It is in plain sight! CRAZY!!!!! Crazy I tell ya! We both are scratching our heads, and even Jay can't wrap his head around this. He's not one for admitting divine intervention, but he has yet to come up with a better explanation. Neither one of us put that receipt there. And the icing on the cake with this one is the words on the back of the receipt. It says THANK YOU. Maybe Someone up there was happy to hear from me again. Oh well, thank God, Mazel Tov, Happy Kwanzaa, whatever works for you. I am beyond thrilled that they've been found, and I don't ever think I'll take them off, not even for a shower. Oh, and I'm thinking maybe Jay will probably get them insured this time. :o) Thanks for reading! I can finally get some sleep tonight!!!!! Goodnight everyone! Love, Dawn
