Upset about my Moms Group
I got an email today about the Moms Group that we do with my church. Unfortunately, this year it is scheduled on Thursdays which is a day I work. So, I am pretty down about that because I like hanging with the moms and my kids really enjoyed it.
But the real upsetment was that my MIL was also on the bulk email that was sent to the moms (she goes to the same church). It's basically a moms group with school-aged and toddler kids. MIL made a comment last year about her not being invited since she is still a mom, so I guess they felt they needed to include her on the invite....
So, I can't go on Thursdays (because I work) but that is that day that MIL has my kids. I am so upset at the thought that I think she will go to the Moms group with MY kids!!
I don't even want to bring it up, I just really hope she doesn't do this to me. Problem is, she won't see anything wrong with it and I will have to go cry in a closet every Thursday

Awww... that would really bother me too. I am assuming your MIL is allowed to drive your kids around?
I am still not comfortable with anyone but DH and I driving my DS around. Maybe you can tell her you are not comfortable with anyone but you or DH driving your kids around?

Re: Upset about my Moms Group
She goes EVERYWHERE with my kids. She has them 2+ days a week and doesn't have many restrictions with them.

I'm sorry, but I don't see whats wrong with it either. Sounds like a good safe fun activity for your kids.

I'm sorry, too, but I agree with this comment, too. Our library has lots of programs that grandparents bring their grandchildren to while the moms/dads are at work. My DCs actually recognize the other kids' grandparents at the store/deli/park if we're out and about. I think it's wonderful memory-building time for them both.
I know it would hurt me a little to think they're having that special time with someone besides me or DH, but it's a nice, safe activity they could both enjoy. definitely better than a day in front of the TV or at just a sitter's house. JMO.

I can see you being hurt by not being able to go but you should be happy that your their grandma is still able to bring them. It's all about the kids having fun. Better then not going I think.

Re: Upset about my Moms Group
I totally get it. I get jealous when DH is home with Cai the 2 days a week and will do the things with him I always wanted to do.
But, I wouldn't say anything, and I would still let her take them - I mean, what are the options? They watch TV with your mom? Run errands with her? It's going to start getting cold out - that means less outdoor time. There's only so much fun and energy a grandma can pull - why not let your kids play with others on those days?
I know in the mom's group I used to belong to, they would have GTG's on weekends and times when working moms could participate. Could you contact the mom in charge to request some GTG's then? Maybe you can organize one? That way you don't lose touch with the moms you made friends with.....

I wouldn't bring it up and see if she does and what she says. Worst comes to worst, she goes and the kids still get to play with the other children there.
Do you really think she will go every week, or maybe just once in awhile?
