Upsetting Appt today-not good news
I am 7 weeks 3 days pregnant. I had a sono last week at 6 weeks 2 days and there was no heartbeat. They were not too concerned and said that some people dont have one yet. When I went today the tech couldnt find a heart beat so she went to get the dr. The Dr. saw a faint heart beat but then told me the baby is measuring small and to meet her in her office so we can look at dates and compare sono pictures from last week and this week. Well the baby is measuring 1 1/2 weeks behind. I asked if that was the case last week too and she said yes (which annoyed me because they didn't tell me that last week, they said everything was fine except for no heart beat yet). BUT the baby grew at a steady rate from last week to this week, exactly the growth they want to see from week to week. So now I have to wait a week. I go back next Tuesday for another sonogram to see what is happening with the growth and the heart beat and then we will go from there. This sucks!
I'm going thru fertility treatments so we know from blood work what my exact ovulation date was and we know when I was inseminated so it isnt a matter of being off with the ovulation calculation. My dates are exact and are NOT a factor in this. Im so upset and can't believe I have to wait another week. Has anyone else had this happen with the baby behind in growth?

My baby is a little bit behind.
Please don't stress out about this. Just take care of yourself and hopefully it will catch up.
I hope that everything will be ok.

I was never under fertility treatments but when I went to the Dr they told me I was 1 week behind but wasn't concerned...I am now 32 weeks.

I didn't experience this exactly, but at 7 weeks earlier in the year i started light brown spotting and went in for a sono. No HB, just a sac. We did the waiting game for a few weeks to see if things would change. It didn't and was diagnosed as a blighted ovum; I had to have a d&c but the good news is I got preg like 2 months later.....I would say it's a good sign you actually have a HB and hang in there. It's awful to "wait" and walk around not knowing what's going on. I feel for you.

Although your ovulation date and insemination date are known...what is not know is when fertilization took place and then when implantation took place. Then there is a growth rate...not all babies grow at the same rate...that is how you get 10lbs babies and 6 lbs babies born at the same gestational age. All these could cause the baby to behind based on the average.

It's extremely stressful and the waiting game is the worst!!! I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. Stay positive. lots of babies just need some time, even if you knwo your O date...so hang in there!!!

I'm sorry you are having to go through so much stress
It is a good sign that your LO grew at a steady rate, though.
I am having twins and one of mine has been much smaller the whole time (I am 36wks now and she is a whole lb. behind her brother!). They actually didn't see her, at first. Then, once they did, the doc told me that she may not make it because she was so much smaller. But, she kept growing and is doing well. She is only in the 7th percentile right now, but will probably just be a tiny baby.

I agree ! If you had a late implanter (10-11 DPO) then that could be why it's smaller. If you had an early implanter (5-6 DPO) then the baby would be measuring big.

Even though you know when you ovulated, you don't know the exact date the egg was fertilized and you don't know the date the egg implanted in the uterine wall. Both of those things can impact the exact gestation of the baby. Just hang in there.
My baby was measuring one week behind too and now it is measuring two weeks ahead.

#2 measured a week behind at 7 weeks as well. I'm super regular, so I knew I wasn't wrong.
He was born at 37.5 weeks at 10-8.

This happened to me..i went they said i was 5weeks something days NO HB..went back a WEEK later and there was a HB and i was 7 weeks 3 days. I have no idea how it skipped a week, BUT I went back a month later and he was behind a week and a half. My whole pregnancy they told me he was measuring small. He was born 6lbs 9oz a week early(i was induced due to preeclampsia) and now DS is a TANK he was 14lbs10oz @ 3 months!
Hang in there and dont stress!
