US-UK Terror Airplane Plot
I'm so thankful this was discovered before it happened......OMG. I can't even imagine!
I'm flying out of NY tomorrow night; they say that because it was a "liquid" terror plot, all liquids will be more than likely confiscated. Great...I have contact lens solution and stuff. I think it's more focused on flights in and out of Britain, though. We'll see.
Scary stuff..........

Re: US-UK Terror Airplane Plot
According to the news I've been watching this morning....they're only not allowing you to carry on any liquids....so that can all stay in your luggage.
It IS really scary though.....

I'm sure there will still be some chaos next month, but the brightest side to all this is that it DIDN'T happen!!! So...yay for that!

I'm not carrying luggage on...so I'm not sure what to do. We're just going for 2 days. For a wedding. If they take my lens stuff...fine. If they take my face wash and stuff (and we get it at midnight) it's going to be a little more of a challenge.

Re: US-UK Terror Airplane Plot
You can't mess with people that aren't affraid to die in a suicide bomb/terrorist act.
It seems unavoidable - they are going to do whatever they want, the question is really when and where and how?
Scary and sad, these people are truly sick.

They are only allowing "essential items" and they must be put in clear plastic bags that the airline is giving out.
"Essential items" are eyeglasses, medicines, diapers for babies, a wallet.
They are not allowing any laptops, PDA's etc. for business travelers.
Looks like just about everything needs to be checked.
Now I'm gettting a flashback to last July 7th when I was in London for the bombing

On the radio this morning, they were going through a huge list of items you can't carry on - no contact lens solution, you can bring your glasses, but not your case, you can bring baby food and milk if you're travelling with a child, but you have to be willing to taste it in the presence of an official...

Someone posted on parenting that they are even being extra careful with baby bottles. Could you imagine if your baby has bad AR, can only have a certain type of formula, and they take it away!

So grateful that there are people in this world dedicated to stopping these plots. Absolutely. I am glad to hear that the plot was thwarted.
On a separate note, my cousin who lives in London works for British Airways. I have been trying to get in touch with him all morning, but I cannot get through. I think he might be on a flight though...
Please be safe and remain aware.....

Mel, there are lots of public ground transport issues and delays right now too, and the airports must be a mob scene with all of the cancellations, so I'm not surprised you can't get a hold of your cousin. Although despite that, life is pretty much business as usual in London right now...hope that helps to ease your mind...
to your cousin...
