Re: Us Weekly's Breaking News on Heath Ledger
please keep in mind that sleep deprivation MESSES WITH YOUR HEAD.
imagine wanting to get a good night sleep for MONTHS and not being able to.
some moms go through this..it is torture.
and I'm sorry, but I don't think we need to focus on anything about his death...except how tragic it is.
postulating about what he may or may not have been addicted to just tarnishes him. I for one, don't want to do that.

Re: Us Weekly's Breaking News on Heath Ledger
I had a feeling they were going to come back with this. I think when someone "accidental" overdoses, they are may not be trying but they are suffering deeply from depression, anxiety, etc and they are just careless. He obvisously was depressed and desperate to sleep so he may have been careless and indifferent to what he was doing. Unfortuantely it is an "accidental" overdose and with that we will never what the intent was.
It is just sad that his daughter will never know her father. RIP Heath

I think it's normal though to want, at the very least, to understand when someone dies somewhat mysteriously. I don't think it's tarnishing him to wonder or try to understand. Of course no one wants to believe that someone with a young child who was clearly his world or a successful career would be anything be accidental but you just don't know. And it raises questions that are a natural progression of that void of understanding.

That is a heck of a combination of drugs to be on small dosage or not.

It is sad to say that there are many people who are given all of these medications on a daily basis.
These drugs in combination with each other wil lnot cuase an accidental overdose. The person taking the drugs would have to increase the max amount per dose in order for this to happen.
I work at a pain mangement office and it not uncommon for the patients to be given all of these and others at the same time.
One of the worst things a person can do is let their doctor turn them into a junkie...

Some people have to take alot a pills a day. And if your doctor prescribes them you think. "They must be ok" Unfortunately, it wasn't. And it happens all the time.

And, I don't know any doctors who would prescribe them all together. Valium, Ativan, and Xanax are all the same kind of drugs. MDs are cautious about prescribing them as it is because they are so addictive, so it has to be a pretty bad MD to prescribe them all at the same time. They may have been old prescriptions or from different MDs.

I agree and Oxycotin and Vicodin are painkiller with Oxycotin being much stronger then Vicodin. I cannot see a doctor prescribing both of them.

Re: Us Weekly's Breaking News on Heath Ledger
oxycodone can be percocet, percodan, etc. its not necessarily oxycontin. REGARDLESS, its way to easy to get these medications.
Its so sad that he had to go to such extreme measures...its def tragic.

I agree. Not only does the not sleeping part mess with you, but some of these drugs do, too. I was on OxyContin and Vicodine (not at the same time) and boy did they turn me into another person. When you're desperate for some sort of relief, it's easy to say, oh maybe just one more pill will do the trick. Considering he was naked when they found him, I want to lean towards it truly being accidental. However, because there were others in there with him before the police were called, it is possible there was some sort of note, but they removed it in an effort to preserve his character for his family's sake. Not saying I think that, but it's a possibility.

If you find the right doctor and you pay him enough, you can get anything you want. Don't put it past doctors. Not saying they're all like that, but they're out there.

I agree, those are mostly benzodiazepines and opioids. Both of which in high doses / or combinations can suppress the respiratory system and cause you to stop breathing.

Re: Us Weekly's Breaking News on Heath Ledger
1st of all...I don't think ANYBODY is trying to tarnish his image. He was a wonderful actor, and appeared to be a good father. The question is honest and right to be asked.....the only person who KNOWS if it was on purpose or not can not answer that. How many "accidental" overdose deaths were real suicides and vice versa. I just think it's unfair to assume based on what you(we) see through the media and tabloids that we (as a society) are qualified to determine if somebody ment to hurt themselves or if it was an accident. 2nd.....With that amount of medication even 1 or 2 pills of each or heck even 3 oxycotins a vicodin and an ativan is enough to die. These are VERY strong pills. There are things called 1 pill wonders out there. These are not 1 of them but just taking 2 instead of 1 of these pills will kill you. I'm talking about heart pills and many you would NEVER consider to be dangerous.
Sorry I just wanted to say these things. It's JMHO.
