Utlimate Crib Sheet.. Am I missing something?

I registered for the Ultimate Crib Sheet after reading rave reviews for it on here. I remember reading how it was a godsend during 3am blowouts because it was so easy to pull right off and have the regular crib sheet underneath...

Fast-forward to the present and being a Mom Chat Icon I don't get it...

Chat Icon

There are so many snaps/loops, it takes forever for me to take it off <and then put one on the next day> going through each one and unbuttoning them

Am I doing something wrong?

I never understood it either. If I'm doing all that snapping, I may as well just change the sheet!

I felt the same way! People told me i HAD to have it. I used it a few times and got rid of it. Not to mention, some of the loops got ripped off in the wash.

I hated it.

Yeah I dont get it either. I just rip the mattres out of the crib, change the sheet, put it back and fix the bumpers.

I was so disappointed too! I didn't like all of the snaps and I felt like it never layed totally flat. I just thought that it was my crib! I recently picked up a couple of good old store brand mattress pads and am happy with them!

I did the exact same thing as you. I registered for it and washed it and now that DD is 4.5 months - we have never used it. It looked so annoying with all the snaps and honestly, unless I am in for some huge surprise , DD has never had a blow out or anything so far. I just dont get it and wish I didnt waste the money. It is just taking up draw space.

DITTO!!!!!!!! I hate it!!!!!!! I can't believe people rave over this thing. I have two and they are useless. I am just holding onto them for perhaps when DS is potty training. They may work nice under the sheets as extra protection.

Good point.. I guess I could use it more like a wee-wee pad and put it on the floor when I "air out" DD and she's playing...

So happy to know I'm not the only one trying to figure out why this thing is supposed to be so great!

I love it! I HATE taking the bumpers off to change the sheet, so this really helps. If you don't have bumpers on though I would see not liking it.

aww, i love it! it was great when DS was sick and puked in his sleep. I admit, I only did 4 snaps or so @ 2am. worked fine.

I swear by it! If anyone wants to give me extras, I'd love them! Chat Icon

I am short so it is so hard for me to reach over and take out the whole mattress. The only bad thing is that DS figured out the snaps and unsnaps them now.

Re: Utlimate Crib Sheet.. Am I missing something?

ha! I actually love the crib sheet! I don't snap it in place. I just lay it over the regular sheet & tuck the edges under the bumper & when I need to change it, I just pull it out. Easy & fast for me!

Yeah the snaps annoy me too.

So I modified its use - I use it under the crib sheet to protect the mattress.

Re: Utlimate Crib Sheet.. Am I missing something?

I loved it and wish they had one for DDs bed. When I took it off, I just pulled and each popped open. It took a bit to snap it on but way shorter than when I've had to change the actually sheet. I did use a bumper though and could see that it might be just as easy to use a regular sheet if you don't use a bumper.

This is what I wondered (and I guess the original point of my thread).. can you just pull it? If not, taking it off button by button takes FOREVER! Chat Icon

Re: Utlimate Crib Sheet.. Am I missing something?

Do you have bumpers on the crib? If not I say just buy reg sheets and change them. Andrew spit up in his bed last night and it took all of two minutes (with the breathable bumpers) to pull the sheet off wipe down the crib and put a new sheet on. DH wasn't even done changing Andrew by the time I was done. If you wanna keep it I say play with it a little master the "art" and than work from there. Good Luck

I always pulled it! I used it or 2.5yrs and never had a problem. 3 snaps fell off over that time but I think it happened in the wash. Supposedly that won't happen if you snap them closed to wash but I never did that.

I love it - snaps are so much easier than changing the sheet.

SOOOO much easier. I break into a sweat changing that crib sheet and it usually takes me a good 20 min to do it!

Re: Utlimate Crib Sheet.. Am I missing something?

I used waterproof pads (still do) and they were/awesome. They were wider than the crib but I'd fold them in half and put them under her. I'd also use that as a change pad EVERY WHERE! I would fold it up and keep it in our diaper bag. They come in smaller 'lap' sizes which worked for our diaper bag. I rarely EVER had to change her sheets because in essence she rarely was on them. When she started to roll we still used it but changed the sheets from her drewl. haha. I've never had a 'blow out' incident on her sheets.

They look kinda like this.

I'd heard of the Ultimate Crib Sheet but honestly it just sounds like so much work. At 3am I'd just swipe out one pad for another and done. After spending that time changing her, wiping her from head to toe all while trying to keep her semi-sleepy, I can not see myself having the energy to handle snaps, belts etc. Especially since we never had full on light in her room in the middle of the night. I'm half blind anyway so that would have been a NIGHTMAREChat Icon

ITA. In the middle of the night, I would just snap the 4 corners and fix the rest after he was up.

I wasn't all that impressed at first, but the first time he puked in the crib - I was so grateful I had them.
