Vacation spot when traveling with a 5/6mth old
Hi Ladies,
I figure that this is the best place to post this question.
DH and I are headed Stateside in early June for my SIL's wedding (we live in Europe, btw) and we're hoping to add a little vacation on the end of our trip. We're hoping for a little heat, sun and sand and were thinking possibly somewhere in the Caribbean or FL or someplace like that.
I wondered if anyone could suggest some good places (location and/or hotels) that we can enjoy ourselves with our baby who will be about 5/6 months at that point (DC isn't even due until Dec but we're trying to plan ahead!). We'd love to go somewhere that's child friendly but that we can also feel like we got a bit of a vacation.
I'll also x-post this on travel.
TIA!

We took Kaydyn to Disney when she was 5 months. We love Disney. She didn't really do much (loved the pool though) but we all had a really good time.

I think if you want more of a relaxing vacation Aruba would be perfect. Disney would be fun, but your DC won't get much out of. Plus, you said you're looking for some R&R and sand.
This way your baby can play in the sand in the shade and you guys can enjoy the beach, lots of nice restaurants (all within walking distance), shops, etc.
We have a time share at the Marriott. You may want to look in renting one from someone so you have a kitchen for the baby's bottles.

I should probably add that DH isn't so hot on the idea of Disney with a baby, he'd rather wait until DC is old enough to actually enjoy it. I, on the other hand, love Disney but I do see his point!

Yea we both love Disney so it was ok for us. As I said she didn't really do much.
What about the Florida Keys or as the PP poster said Aruba is supposed to be nice too.

That sounds wonderful! I am definitely going to look into Aruba! And Disney we will definitely be doing when DC gets a little older. Thanks ladies!

We go to Florida every year and have done since my son was about a year old. We went to St Petes Beach, and thats very family friendly. And its cheap and your money will go very far!!!

Rachel I can't believe you go to St. Pete Beach! Dh's grandparents have a house right on the beach there (in Pass-a-Grille, have you ever been there?) - what a small world! We were planning to stop off there one way or the other to visit the family, but we're not sure if we want to dedicate our whole vacation to that spot as we've been so many times before. But maybe we will.
Small world!

I would do Aruba with a baby. Disney won't be all that fun because DC can't do rides, and you will have to switch off with DH or just walk around really. I would stick to an island. Babies are so easy to travel with at that age. I love Aruba, but St. Maarten is also great. We also took DD to Puerto Rico around that age and it was nice.

We've been to Club Med in Florida and Punta Cana - REALLY baby friendly - they have everything there for you - crib, stroller, baby food, bibs, utensils, mini-fridge in the rooms, etc, and even a daycare center on the premises that's fabulous, and LOTS of other children and babies and entertainment geared for the kids.

If you're going to be in Florida, you can always look into doing a cruise out of one of the ports.

south seas island resort in captiva florida. my parents have a condo there and they have a main pool that there is a kids club andf they have lots of fun things for kids; with restaurants and shops and everything is there on the island right in and out of the resort. and there is a trolley that takes you everywhere so u dont have to drive. its like being in an island out of the country but not. its gorgeous. i need to be there now! haha.
