vacation with an infant?
DH wants to go on a vacation this summer, but I am nervous about going on a vacation with a 4 month old. Have any of you done this and was it fun or very difficult?

Re: vacation with an infant?
we took Kaydyn to Disney when she was 5 months. It really wasn't bad at all....we brought the infant seat and the snap and go. We brought only what we would need for a day and stopped at Walmart when we first got there and bought everything we would need for the vacation there. That way we didn't have to lug a ton of stuff.

Re: vacation with an infant?
We've traveled with DD since day 1. At 4 months, it's great because they basically are in the infant carrier when you are out. We could go to dinner, sightseeing, whatever. DD would sleep wherever we happened to be.
If you plan on an action-packed vacation, like horseback riding, tennis, etc. no I wouldn't do that. But at a beach or pool, mountains, sightseeing - sure! Better now than when they are mobile - it's gets more difficult.

Re: vacation with an infant?
Traveling when they are an infant IMO is way easier then traveling when they are a toddler. Do as much as you can now

Re: vacation with an infant?
My kids have been away multiple times. When they were 8 weks old unfortunately because my FIL was sick(he is fine now) we drove 10 hours to NY on the spur of the moment. They did great. We stopped and fed them at a Borders!
A few weeks ago I had a weekend conference to attend for work. We took them and my babysitter and her fiancee-that worked out great too. Both times I hade everything I needed.

Re: vacation with an infant?
So do it.
We went to Florida for DH's family reunion when DS was 3 months old, then on a cruise when he was 8 months old, back to Florida at 15 months and we are going again this summer.
It was so easy at that age, I recommend a Baby Bjorn for traveling

Re: vacation with an infant?
We took DD with us to Nantucket for a week when she was 3 months old and then to Turks and Caicos when she was 8 months...and other vacations since.
I say the earlier you do it, the better. They get used to travel and get accustomed to it.
I say go for it!

Re: vacation with an infant?
Honestly.....if you are going to vacation....its WAY easier to do it with a infant!!!! Toddlers are tough and fiesty and independent and can be defiant and cranky, lol. An infant you can take anywhere will nap in a stroller. WAY easier, I say go for it. Youll probably be pleasantly surprised.
