I have the Dyson Animal(its purple)it's ok-dont love it bc its a little bulky&heavy.
I also the Eureka Optima Bagless upright- I LOVE this vacuum for tile/wood floors!

I just picked up the Bissell Clearview II last night. Only used it once but so far I like Picked up so much dog hair and dirt I almost
ETA: It was only $75 very affordable. Which is what we need right now.

I have an Infinity which I purchased at BB&B. I have also seen it sold at BJ's and Costco. It's a cheaper version of a Dyson and works great.

sorry late responding to this, but I am vacuum crazy, tried so many before making my decision. But I woulnd up with the Kenmore intellismart bagless.
It scares me how much dirt and ANIMAL hHAIR came out of my floors, and I love that it tells me the floor is clean. Rated Number 1 by consumer reports!

I have a Kenmore Canister and I really like it.
I need another one though. I hate schlepping the vacuum up and down the stairs.
that's really an excuse for me not to vacuum..
