vaginal births
Ok so don't judge me, but i listen to howard stern. Sometimes he peeves me but i laugh all the time. Anyway, mary mcormick, who played his movie wife, said she'd never give birth vaginally only c-section. I just wonder...am i crazy for wanting a vaginal delivery. I'm sure there are pros and cons to both but her reason seemed to primarily for sexual reasons. Anyone else worried about giving birth vaginally.

Re: vaginal births
You are not crazy for wanting a vaginal delivery at all. I very much want one and am worried my doctor will not do everything in his power to honor that wish.

Re: vaginal births
I must say I am a little nervous about it. I obviously know that it's a natural process and the body knows what to do but when I think about it I just think HOW????????HOW IS IT POSSIBLE????????? I hope to get over this fear before it's my time...lol.
Edited to say yes I do want a vaginal birth.

Re: vaginal births
I completely want a vaginal delivery. Unless there are complications, that is the way I want it to happen. I can't imagine wanting to be be cut on purpose. (I totally get that there are times when a c-section is the only option).
You're not crazy!

Re: vaginal births
I would much prefer a vaginal birth. The c-section leaves a nasty scar, and it has to be painful. I had an appendectomy years ago, and that was painful. Plus, that's just a little incision--about an inch and a half!

It's amazing the things you hear about. I heard about a doctor that suggested inducing labor for a woman so she could have the baby before the new year... and get the tax break for that year.
If a doctor is willing to suggest that, you can definitely find some that will be talked into giving you an unnecessary c-section!

Re: vaginal births
I heard a lot of celebraity get c-section done so they can have another doctor come in and give them a tummy tuck.I don't know how true it is but money does go a long way. I'm personally afraid to get a c-section,I mean if I have to have one for risk reason then so be it,but its not something that I would choose to have.I hope to have a vaginal birth, I honestly don't care how much the pain I go through. Good luck on either way your labor goes.

Re: vaginal births
I have had 2 vaginal births and I fear a c-section. I wouldn't have my labors any other way unless medically needed. I NEVER wanted a c-section.
I forgot to mention, Maybe TMI!
But my DH and I find sex better than before children!

Re: vaginal births
Before I got pg, I thought I would rather have a c-section for fear of the pain of a v-birth and not being able to comprehend how a ba y could actually make it out of there. After I gave birth, I was soooo glad it was a v-birth because you heal much faster. My roommate in the hospital had a c-section and she couldn't get out of bed for a few days while I was able to walk to the nursery and take a shower. For the future, I will do whatever it takes to avoid a c-section.

I will do whatever it takes to avoid a c-section. Major surgery scres me and I've had very easy recoveries from my vaginal birth

Re: vaginal births
a c-section is major abdominal surgery, with both short-term and long-term risks. of course, i would do it if it were medically necessary, but i personally would not choose to have it if i could have a normal vaginal delivery.
ETA: i should also say that i'm definitely afraid of a vaginal delivery - i guess i'm afraid of labor and birth no matter how i end up doing it!! it's mainly a fear of the unknown...

Re: vaginal births
I ended up with a c-section.
My scar is not big or nasty. Infact, I forgot it was there.
My recovery was great- up and around within a few days.
Was a fantastic experience.

Re: vaginal births
I wanted a vaginal birth, I was afraid of the surgery. I ended up with a c-section, though. C-section scars are not big and nasty these days, they are tiny. I can't imagine wanting a c-section for sexual reasons. People are weird.

Re: vaginal births
DH heard the same thing today on Howard and told me to get a C-section. I want a vaginal birth unless there is a medical reason. I am scared and it will probably be really painful, but it is natural and I don't want to put my body through a major surgery if it is unnecessary. Also, if you have a c-section, there are more issues with lifting and you can't drive for a period of time. Those are not things I want to worry about with a newborn.

Re: vaginal births
I want a vaginal birth. C-section, after all is, a a major sergery that I can do without.
On the other hand, I know some women that say everything was easier after c-section than vaginal.

Re: vaginal births
YOu're not crazy for wanting one. I had a c/s with my first because he was breech. I wanted nothing more than a v-birth for my second. I did and it was the best decision. No problems down below at all!

Re: vaginal births
At first I was and then last week I watched some birthing videos on vaginal and C section births on babycenter.com. They both looked scary, but I thought the c section video looked scarier IMO. I hope I can deliver vaginally. Either way, I am starting to get anxious about it.

Re: vaginal births
A c-section is major surgery. I would never want a c-section over a vaginal birth. I have no issues down there. I would want a vaginal birth if I get pregnant again.
