13 I believe is valley stream central. 24 is valley stream south and 30 is north. I think. Central is in south valley stream near elmont. I think parts of malverne also go there. 24 is the main part of the inc village basically from sunrise hwy to peninsula bvld. Some of Hewlett and close to Lynbrook go there. North is north valley stream and parts of Franklin square.

I don't think this is entirely true. I think south gets some of 13 too - but I am not positive. And there are actually 4 districts. 3 elementary and 1 high school district.

Re: Valley stream school districts
Valley Stream North HS is part of the VS Central School District. Willow Road Elementary School is part of District 13. These 2 schools are located in Franklin Sq.
VS Central School District is the HS District -North, South, Central and Memorial Junior High.
If I remember correctly from my childhood.

My parents still live there, and the elementary schools all bus to each other. Some kids who could go to shaw go to forest road. Forest road, Robert carbanaro, and Brooklyn ave go to south. Shaw goes to central/memorial. I'm not sure about north bc it was far removed for me when I lived there

Most of 13 goes to north, most of 24 goes to south and most of 30 goes to central, however all students upon entering 7th grade can request to go to any of the 3 jr hs. FM me with any questions.

Um, I was looking for a house in Franklin square and got mixed reviews about north. South, from what I understand went downhill from when I went there and central...I don't know much. I would stick with Lynbrook, Oceanside, Hewlett if you are looking in that area

North has definitely changed since I went ('96). The area is nice though. Parts of Franklin Sq go to Carey HS, which I've heard is good.

Re: Valley stream school districts
I've heard the same about North. (Class of '93) It was very good back then, and Carey not so much. Now Carey is supposedly excellent.

I'd love to know why people believe the schools went "downhill" since tr 90s. North and south have seem a big population increase since then, and the composition of the student body is very diverse, but I'm not sure how that correlates with going downhill? Is downhill based on test scores? Because you won't see a huge comparative drop their either.

Re: Valley stream school districts
I grew up in the area, but I went to Catholic school (nothing to do with the public school system..my older brothers were in public, and I went to the now closed Blessed Sacrament for preschool and my parents just loved it). Valley Stream is a huge district and encompasses a number of schools...just off the top of my head there's Clearstream, Shaw, Dever, Wheeler Ave, Central, North, South, and Memorial. There are also private schools and other schools that I'm missing.
From the best of my knowledge, North and South have had higher academic scores than Central for quite some time, and it remains so...not that Central is "bad" though. Some people are going to tell you these schools are "bad." I really don't think that's true. There are far, far worse districts around than Valley Stream. I know quite a large number of people who graduated from these schools less than 10 years ago who are doing quite well for themselves.
Central is, as the name implies, pretty much in the middle of the community. South is in the Mill Road section, and North has a community from Valley Stream, Malverne (Westwood section basically) and Franklin Square attending it.
