Re: Vegan and Vegetarian friendly
I don't know this for a fact, but I would guess that Japanese places would be pretty good for a vegan, since there tends to be a good selection of meatless stuff (do you eat fish?) and you don't see a lot of dairy in that cuisine.

Re: Vegan and Vegetarian friendly
no fish, no meat no dairy
I am vegan and gluten free these days
I prefer places that are vegan friendly b/c you never know where there is hiden butter or something else I don't eat
I have been to Tula kitchen, feelsgood cafe, cornacorpia in sayville, 3 brothers pizza and Arinna in huntington- all vegan friendly
this week I am going to Axerbaijan cafe - and a place in the city b/c I am all out of ideas

All of the ones I know of are in Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan.
Manhattan: Candle Cafe Candle 79 Zen Palate Blossom Dirt Candy Red Bamboo Pure Food & Wine
Brooklyn: Wild Ginger Foodswings The V-Spot
Queens: Happy Buddha
I used to go to Witches Brew a lot and while they're not a restaurant, they're great for vegan desserts, coffee and tea.

I've always loved angelicas kitchen in the east village but I haven't been there in years. And I'm not even a vegetarian. Also dojo and Zen palette.

Love Tula's Kitchen and Red Bamboo!! I heard about this fast food vegan spot in Nassau county somewhere I have been dying to try. I never have a problem finding vegan friendly stuff at most restaurants. Asian and indian have a lot of options
ETA Long island vegetarian eatery in Seaford! It's a vegan fast food place, not very healthy though lol, Im gonna check out this weekend!

I know they recently opened a place on Merrick Rd. in Seaford. The name is totally escaping me right now. It looks like a little hole in the wall, but I remember awhile ago some ppl posting about it.
We went to an Indian place last night in Hickville that was decent, it was called Diwan.

You beat me to it! I was going to list almost all of these. May I also add Annam Brahma. It is at two locations in Queens and it is SO good. They do different themes each day of the week. Ie, Italian night, Chinese night and so on. Of the restaurants the pp listed above, I especially love Candle Cafe and Zen Palate. In general, I find any Asian restaurant to be excellent for a vegan/vegetarian diet, as there are tons of different dishes with tofu/ no dairy. Good luck and how great that you are vegan! I haven't gotten there yet despite cutting way back on dairy and almost completely giving up eggs. It is not easy, so congrats to you !

How is Annam Brahma? I've looked at their website so many times, and it's not that far from where we live, but it seems to be a little 'culty' from the reviews I've read on Yelp...but OMG, their menu sounds delicious and the Sunday buffet for twelve bucks makes me so freakin' curious!

Annam Brahma is great ! The food is excellent and very well-priced. As for the cult thing, I don't find it weird or creepy at all. It actually has a very peaceful atmosphere. There are definitely lots of pictures relating to their religion, but no one mentions it or makes you uncomfortable. Try it !

It's called Long Island Vegetarian Eatery. They have vegetarian as well as Vegan options. I haven't tried it yet, but looks yummy. I get their special updates on FB.

Re: Vegan and Vegetarian friendly
went to blossom NYC last night in the west village- it was awesome-
even my meat eating friend liked it
also- I found a great place in massepequa - more of a lunch place but he is expanding to a vegan/gluten free bakery and then more food in the fall
Organic corner health and juice bar- the owner is really cool
I am very committed to this- so I appericate all the help!

Oh, yes. I just looked at their online menu and it is nothing like their current one. The current one has a list of 20+ veggie dishes that could be combined into an entree. You can pick 4 of them for $15.00. I had beets, roasted brussell sprouts, leeks, etc. The online menu is really different then the one they had when I went-and I went there a week ago with a vegan friend.
