Re: VEGAS!!! Tell me....
I saw both "O" and "Mystere" (both Cirque de Soliel) shows and loved them!
I love the shopping there and I miss walking down the street in the afternoon with a frozen margarita in hand AHHHH....the best!
We stayed at the Venetian but that was b/c DH had a conference there...we loved it though. I think anywhere you stay on the strip is good because you can walk to everything then
Have fun!

Re: VEGAS!!! Tell me....
I went to Vegas 3 weeks ago and stayed at Paris!
LOVED Paris. It's directly in the center of the strip, and we had a great view from the 15th floor.
I highly recommend Terry Fator at the Mirage for a show. He's the ventriloquist who won America's Got Talent.
His show was hysterical. He had his puppets "sing' etta james, beatles, elvis, aaron neville, rod stewart, dolly parton, etc and sounded JUST like the real singer. He does audience participation too and he does meet and greet outside right after.
This is him when he was on America's Got Talent, but he does What a Wonderful World in the show too.

Re: VEGAS!!! Tell me....
We stayed at Harrow's but didn't LOVE it. The rooms are small and it's VERY smoky. We visited the MGM which was gorgeous! If we go back we'd stay there, or one of the higher end places

Re: VEGAS!!! Tell me....
you will love Vegas...how fun!!!!!!!!
I've been to Vegas 3 times. I've stayed at Mirage twice and Bellagio on my honeymoon. Bellagio is awesome!!!! Mirage was great too. I suggest you stay in the middle of the strip.
We saw the show O and loved it!!!!!!! We also did a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon...that is a must.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Have fun!!!!!

Re: VEGAS!!! Tell me....
I second the Paris hotel, I was just there last month and had a room at the Paris. Very gorgeous view and fantastic location. I just wouldn't rely on eating at the buffet in the lobby - their buffet was "ok" but I think the other buffets were cheaper and offered a lot more variety..Also, be careful that some of the rooms seem to have really thin walls. We kept hearing the couple next door talking and snoring on some nights.
Last year we stayed at Luxor and that wasn't bad at all - I felt the rooms we had were quieter (the newer rooms in the tower are a little bigger than the rooms in the pyramid section) and the buffet was amazing. There is a little tramway that connects the Luxor, Mandalay Bay and Excalbur hotels so you can still get to the middle of the strip in only 20 min or so.

first time i went i stayed at paris, with views of the bellagio. awesome. stayed one night at excalibur and would never recommend it. stayed last time at mirage and liked it. saw O first time and was amazed, saw Love with Beatles songs (it was ok - dh and i are not beatles fans, but we had to see a cirque show.) we also saw terry fator - muppet guy - he was on oprah - he is at mirage- and it was the most hysterical show.

Re: VEGAS!!! Tell me....
We are going in May and staying at the MGM. The last time we stayed at the Bellagio and loved it. But they aren't as kid friendly and this time we are bringing the kids and that is why we chose the MGM.

Re: VEGAS!!! Tell me....
Palazzo is my fave hotel (attached to Venetian but much newer and pretty sure its the same prices). Location is the best IMO and there's tons of good places in there.
Only show I've seen there is Zumanity and we were not prepared for the nudity (they involved the audience too and we were in the front row so we were freaking out the whole time) Then again I'm a total prude

Re: VEGAS!!! Tell me....
I am so glad I found this. We are thinking of going on a vacation soon and neither one of us has ever been to Vegas :)
Without gambling, how much should we expect to spend in 3 or 4 days? With going to maybe two shows? I'm not sure if we can afford it but it sounds like so much fun!

we got a deal that love was included when we stayed at mirage. cirque shows usually run about $100 per ticket. dh and i eat at a lot of buffets. a buffet a day and then some lighter food for the rest of day, so we spent about $150 a day on food.

We booked through Triple A and got the Paris hotel for 79 dollars a night instead of 130 for 4 nights. You might want to try them.
Tickets to Terry Fator ran about 90.
