VENT!!! Bridal party in November
So DH and I are in a bridal party for our great friends in November. Well when I ordered my dress in January I was at my skinniest. They wanted to order me an 8 but I insisted on the 10. Well now that I am pregnant I know that this dress will not fit. I called them yesterday to see if they could change my dress size. She asked what size I would want to make it and I have no idea! I know they havent started making the dress yet. They have time. The girl told me that the fabric was most likely cut already and I could order extra fabric and have a seamstress rebuild the dress and add extra panels. She said it wont be cheap and I should just order a new dress. This is crazy! I havent told the bride yet. Its too soon to tell people. Let me add, its a tight form fitted dress too. :::deep breath:::
Why cant they just recut fabric for me and keep the other fabric for another dress. I'm sure they will need it at some point!
Update:
Bridal suite just called, they are going to call and try to change it to a 16 for me!

I am sorry. Do you have the designers name? Maybe you can call the warehouse yourself. Not sure if that is allowed but the store might be trying to make extra money.

That's great that they are trying to change it. When I got married, one of my bridesmaids was 6 months pregnant at my wedding, we ordered the dress before she knew. One of the other girls was able to switch dresses with her, so she could have a larger size and it was corset style so they let the corset out. They also said they could sew panels in if needed using the extra fabric from the other altered dresses.

The 16 should be just the right size. I was just in my SIL's wedding and 34 weeks at the time. When I ordered the dress I measured for a size 6 and they ordered a 14 to account for the pregnancy. It was just the right size for my belly and no extra material was needed.

One of my BM's didn't fit the dress once it came it so we swapped it with the floor sample (we got lucky it was the same color) and a large size than just took in what needed to be taken in.

How pregnant will you be at the wedding?
I was just a bridesmaid this past weekend at 38.5 weeks...the original dress I ordered was a 10...then when we found out I was pregnant, they ordered me a size 20 which I thought was ridiculous...but it actually just fit around my belly...the only thing the seamstress had to do was rework the entire top of the dress b/c it was up to my chin...it didn't need to be taken in or let out...
This dress was also form fitting through the hips, but it actually flattered my very pregnant belly!

I am in a similar situation myself, I am in a bridal party in September when I will be 7 months pregnant. When we ordered the dress I told them I might be pregnant at the time so they ordered the dress 2 sizes bigger. I was thinking I might be 3 months pregnant not 7! Now I am hoping that the dress fits. How do they work this though, obviously you can't go for a fitting too early because you are still growing. I just hope I dont look really big walking down the aisle

they told me today its too late to order a different size. instead we can order extra fabric or the dress can be pulled up. because I am so short they said they can pull it up. Its a little bigger towards the bottom of the dress so theres a chance it will fit over the belly.

I hope mine fits They said it was easier to get the dress bigger rather then start adding panels to the dress but I guess it is what it is. At least they ordered it bigger already so if anything maybe getting it to fit wont be as bad. I am already uncomfortable about being in this bridal party being pregnant so I just hope it looks good. what kind of shoes are you getting?
