Verizon Fios vs. Cablevision Triple play
Which do you have? I currently have the silver package with Cable includes triple play. Currently Verizon Fios is available in my area now and a man from Verizon came to my door trying to get me as a customer. He said that for what I am paying for with the Silver package, I can get so many more channels . I think he said it's $109 plus free Showtime for a year.. He said I can try it for 2 weeks and if I don't like it, no problem. Their movie package is $15 and the sports plus package is $8 and the HBO package is $16. Cinemax is $12...After I start adding all this up, to me it does not sound like they are less expensive than cable, what do you guys think?
For those who had cable and switched to Verizon Fios, are you happy with the change? Did you go back to cable after? Thanks.

Re: Verizon Fios vs. Cablevision Triple play
We switched last year and I am in HEAVEN!!!! I love Verizon. I love the channels. They know have Channel 501 for local news on LI and weather/traffic.
We have the phone and internet too.
For a while we were disappointed with the internet it was so slow. But DH just got another computer. We had been using my old laptop (with major amount of pics on it!) and we realized how fast it really was. It was just my old laptop and very little space/memory that was slowing us down. With DH's new computer, we are logged on in the matter of seconds. Literally! He also told me that he can open multiple internet windows and it's just as fast.
We are paying right now (WITH ALL TAXES INCLUDED, etc.. ) $112 for all 3 services.

Really? wow I may have to tell hubby about this and make the switch. I like that you said they have that new channel that shows the LI weather and traffic too. In that price ($112) does that include HBO and CINEMAX too?

Re: Verizon Fios vs. Cablevision Triple play
With cable my internet connection went down often, and as I use email for my business that wasn't acceptable.
We are MUCH happier with FiOS. No we don't watch all the channels, but we have them. The quality of the image and the internet connection being so reliable are what we are happy with.

Re: Verizon Fios vs. Cablevision Triple play
my parents had cable then switched to fios. the service was so much better, the technology is better, and you get more. the internet never goes down, there's never an issue with the tv, etc. they recently switched back to cable b/c my dad was able to get a really cheap deal from them, but the service is awful and we're sorry we did it.

Re: Verizon Fios vs. Cablevision Triple play
DH and I are both hating Cablevision right now. We have been major having problems with the internet, cable and phone lately and for the amount we pay each month I feel we should have little to no problems.

Re: Verizon Fios vs. Cablevision Triple play
We changed and are happy with the change. They have so many more channels and a lot of neat features that Cablevision didn't seem to have.
We are paying a similar price to what we were paying before - we saved a little in the beginning though. I like that they give you the On Demand channels for the premium movie channels for free when you subscribe to them - with cable, I remember paying extra.

Re: Verizon Fios vs. Cablevision Triple play
We switched to Fios...The internet is the same speed to me, I dont see a difference.
We get ALL the movie channels ( HBO, showtime, TMC, flix, Starz ...everything except Cinemax and all the on demands etc) for $24 a month( it was a package deal) ...
We get a TON more channels, and a lot more kids programs and a LOT more on demands etc.
We have 3 boxes and one DVR box and we pay about $10 less a month then we paid with Cable and basically the difference is in the amount of channels we get.

Re: Verizon Fios vs. Cablevision Triple play
So let me get this straight. Right now with Cable I have the phone, tv and internet. We have the silver package and I am paying $158 with taxes. I get starz and HBO. I also have one box
With Verizon I can get the phone, tv and internet, all movie channels, and more than 1 box for the same price???
Thanks, Scott

With Fios I get all the above, with 3 boxes, one is a DVR box and all the movie channels ( plus all the on demands for each channel) for $170 a month with taxes included. I paid with taxes for Cable, $184 a month....with less channels, less movie channels.

The only channel we dont get is cinemax, we get all the rest. And our wireless router is great ( free) , we have 3 pcs on it. With Cable we had to go buy a wireless router.
And we have 3 HD boxes.

Re: Verizon Fios vs. Cablevision Triple play
I'm definitely going to research alittle bit more, call the salesman that came to my door and see what he can offer me in a package deal. If anyone else wants this guys number, let me know - perhaps he can get us a better deal vs. the site or calling verizon CS... ya never know!

Re: Verizon Fios vs. Cablevision Triple play
we just compared both as new customers and the price was pretty much the same
we went with cable b/c they could come faster- but only after my BF threatned to cancel his business account
I am happy to have cablevisiion again after having fios- I wasn't a fan
but channel 1 news was entertaining in the moving- I loved the trafic reporter who would said "oy" when there was bad trafic...only in NY
