Verizon iPhone launch looks set for February 3rd

BGR has confirmed with a source close to Apple that the company has blacked out employee vacation requests between February 3rd and February 6th — Thursday through Sunday. The four-day vacation freeze has been confirmed to be in effect in several regions in the United States. A recent report suggested the vacation black-out would cover a period of three weeks beginning in late January and extending into February, which still could be true in some regions.
Back in June of last year, Apple picked the dates of 24th to the 27th for its iPhone 4 weekend launch — also a Thursday through Sunday. In addition, Verizon Wireless typically launches new devices on Thursdays. While BGR has not yet confirmed that the Verizon iPhone is the device we’ll see debut on the 3rd, the timing lines up very well with previous reports; no other Apple products have been rumored to be launching in this time frame.

yep. I don't think their network will be able to handle the traffic just like AT&Ts.

Verizon's network really isn't that great to begin with. Their voice service is good. But their data service is very mediocre. Definitely not the fastest out there.
I will be curious to see how their LTE shapes up. But it will take a while for LTE to be available in all the suburbs.

Agreed..LTE is spotty but hopefully will get better. 4G is not as available as they are all making it out to be whether it's T-Mobile, Verizon or Sprint. 4G phones are everywhere but the service is very limited.

Even with LTE, the speeds Verizon is boasting are not going to be seen by the customers.... they are going to have issues with capacity limiting their speeds.

I have to say that I'm glad i didn't wait to upgrade. I got the Droid and I think it blows the Iphone away.

I want the Droid, but DH has it and hates it. He thinks it's a lot harder to text than the Blackberry was. Plus getting his yahoo email on it is very slow.

I hope so! I have ATT and want the iphone4 prices to go down for when I can get one in April.
I had Verizon and got some dropped calls, but didnt have internet on it. ATT is WAY better. I have internet on ATT. I'm wondering why some of you say its crappy? Is it just crappy on the iphone?

I think Verizon will see a significant increase in subscribership. Maybe I won't dump my stock right away. And then the problems will happen.
I actually think AT&T has a better handle on the traffic and their network will actually appear to be way better once people jump ship to Verizon.

I was scared to go to the touch keyboard at first, but at the store I decided to embrace it and I started to understand it.
I have gmail, so since the droid is a google phone - it's great.

I lived in a basement apt and couldn't get a signal on ATT. I wonder if that would have been the same with Verizon. Anyways this afternoon is the event and I sure hope it's some iPhone news.

- Verizon's Dan Mead on stage to talk about launch details.
- Verizon employees getting the iPhone this week. Ramping unprecedented supply in inventory system.
- Talking about network preparations...have been building in capacity to handle the coming surge.
- Current Verizon customers can pre-order beginning February 3rd. Available to all at Verizon and Apple stores on February 10th.
- Pricing is $199 for 16 GB, $299 for 32 GB. Can also act as Wi-Fi hotspot for up to five devices.

I hear you!! I was never that impressed with Verizon's, but of course when I'm sitting still in a place where I've never dropped a call, and my mom is moving and we lose a call, it is my AT&T, not her Verizon  Can't wait for everything to go to go bad for Verizon traffic and people stop b!tching about AT&T.
