Very frustrated! Vent for mommies on #2 or more
So when I was preggo with my first, 6 years ago... (my oldest is now 5) I did the most careful research on EVERYTHING I bought my son. From the car seat to crib to highchair to bouncer... I spent HOURS with books like Baby Bargains, researching online... chatting with moms on this site. My husband and I spent SO much money (I'm talking thousands of dollars worth of suff) to get the very best for our new baby. NOW almost everything I own is BAD!! My crib is recalled, my car seat expired, my sleep positioner is bad, my Bundle Me is bad... shall I go on?? How can this possibly be that what was the BEST of the best for my first and second now be BAD for my third????? I mean we bought all those items knowing that we were going to have multiple children. Now I'm supposed to go out and get everything new??? Who the heck has money for that????? Are these items really that dangerous? Or is it just the negligence of the parents? I am just so frustrated and not sure what the heck to do.

I understand where you are coming from! I'm in the same boat and I've asked a few questions about carseats/cribs, and have been part of the conversations about bundle mes on the parenting board.
I am trying to take advantage of friends and family who have had their kids after mine. I babysit for a little one who is 3 ... and her mom is loaning me their infant seat and base to use with my snap and go...since my infant car seat is expired.
My bundle me's zipper broke anyway, so I would have had to replace that. I am replacing it with a shower cap car seat cover...that is supposed to be safer. It is a small cost, about $30.
As far as the crib, I am undecided as to what to do. This is our last child, we are not going for #3, DH is already considering getting a vasectomy. We can afford child #2 but #3 would really be pushing it. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a new crib, but...mine was also a hand-me down..so even though it is an expensive Bellini crib, it is probably about 10 years old now! and is a drop side!
So we are still deciding on the crib. I will continue to ask friends to see if anyone has a loaner for us. If I can find one that was gently used and is from a good friend who I know takes care of their stuff, I will take them up on the offer in a heart beat!
It is really frustrating. We are creating a baby registry and registering for about 10 things this weekend. Things that we need new of (like burp clothes, bottles, car seat cover, etc) and even if we dont have a sprinkle, we'll get the completion discount if we buy them ourselves. At least it will save us some money!
