VERY MUCH TMI Period Question
Goes on Parenting not Health cause I'm sure it has to do with my kids. I blame everything on them
I got my period back in May, Lukie was 15 months old. Out of the last 8 periods 6 of them have been off the hook in terms of blood loss. Changing a super plus tampon every hour. I spoke to my OB who told me it may be hormonal because it took so long to come back and out of the last 7 years I've been pregnant and nursing so my body needs time to readjust to what normal was. They told me to take Motrin. Motrin is WONDERFUL :) I feel normal now but it got me to thinking. Since the blood lines the uterus to be shed, after taking Motrin the flow comes to a halt. Where does the rest of the blood that would have come out go if it's now not coming out because of the Motrin? Does it reabsorb into the body? Does it just hang out till next time? I know, sounds like a dumb question but I like to know what goes on inside my body. If I am harming myself by taking it I would rather deal with the bleeding and anemia (I think I am becoming anemic again because every time I get my period I just want to sleep, no energy until I start eating a lot of meat and spinach etc.) Anyone know the answer to my question? I'd call the OB but its 10:30 at night.

Re: VERY MUCH TMI Period Question
HMMM. I don't really think that Motrin would affect the flow. Maybe just the cramping and headache that you may get.
Heavy bleeding is something that should be checked out. Anemia can be taken care of with iron pills, but you really should get to the source.
You may have a ployp. I had one a few years ago, and I had heavy blood flow. I had a d&c and it is normal now. Or, maybe it could be hormonal.
You should def call the Dr and get it checked out.
Good Luck

Re: VERY MUCH TMI Period Question
The nurse practicioner told me to take it. I went upstate and it was torture driving having to stop every hour! (7 hour drive) She told me to take Motrin. That was this summer. Every time AF starts I pop 2 Motrin every 12 hours and I am human again. I don't understand it either but I can deal!!
I have iron pills left from when I had Lucas. I lost so much blood then I became anemic. I do need to take pills again but I am so bad with them. How do I know when I need to stop?
I did go to the OB for my yearly when I got back from upstate. Everything is 100% normal. They took the wait and see approach on the bleeding. It has gotten better, shorter and lighter but it's still pretty heavy compared to what it was before I had kids. I am still nursing so my hormones arent back to normal.

Re: VERY MUCH TMI Period Question
Ibuprofen lessens the flow, my doctor told me the same thing. I can't help you with your question though.
