Re: Video on 4800 cases going to court - vaccines & autism...
There are a couple things I question:
1. IF thimerisol is a cause for autism, why the skyrocket in diagnosed cases NOW- when a majority of vaccines now have NO thimerisol (there are trace amounts in SOME versions, not ALL- each vaccine has a 100% themerisol-free version). IF the vaccines were the cause all along, wouldn't we see a dip in new cases, rather than a rise? Thimerisol has been in vaccines for YEARS, why is it in the past year alone the number of diagnosis has jumped to 1/144- even with the public scrutiny and awareness of the thimerisol/autism debate? Please don't fall on the "we're better at diagnosing" argument- we'd still see a decline in cases if vaccines were the main cause.
2. IF thimerisol is a cause for autism, why doesn't kelation therapy (treatment that removes thimerisol/mercury from the body) work for ALL diagnosed cases of autism rather than some?
I'm really curious about people's thoughts on this.....

The whole thimersol/autism debate is not really the issue for me. The issue is why would the government removed a "safe" ingredient from vaccinations?? They obviously know more than we do.

I've just assumed because of the public debate in combination with there being no need for thimerisol as a preservative.

As a government wouldn't it make more sense to "back" a safe vaccination and leave the formulation alone proving it is indeed a "safe"vaccination" I truly believe it was not safe(not necessarily Autism related) and thats why it was removed. BTW you make some very valid points above. The goverment needs to step in an conduct some intense studies.

Exactly. I've been doing a lot of research on this topic, as it does concern me, as with most parents. Thimerosal was routinely used as a preservative in childhood vaccinations since the 1930's. BUT, the explosion in Autism diagnosis' has occured only in the last 5-10 years or so. If there was a connection, we would have seen a dramatic increase in the 30's, not now. Especially because most vaccinations, for the last 7 years, don't contain ANY thimerosal, or if they do, only trace amounts. The dramatic increase in the last 5-10 years has to have another explanation.
I believe the recent studies indicating that it starts with a genetic predisposition, which has a significant link to the age of the father upon conception. It's anyone's guess as to what the environmental trigger really is.
