Villa Roma v. Woodloch Pines

Anyone go recently, since the renovations? Good? Bad? Ugly?

Re: Villa Roma?

We have been going there my whole life. The renovations are nice. The pools are great for the kids...

Was there anything specific you were looking for?

Re: Villa Roma?

I went all the time as a kid but that was over 25 years ago! I just want to go somewhere with activities for my younger kids and their website looks amazing. But you just never know, you know?

Villa Roma?

My grandparents owned a timeshare there that was passed on to my mom...I went every year until just before the fire.
I still have a bocce ball tournament trophy lol! And it was my first experience eating lambs head at the dinner.

Re: Villa Roma?

A lot of the negative reviews on Trip Advisor say that if you don't wait on line at the pool by 6am, you will never get near it or get a seat all day. Did anyone find this to be true?

I know the guy who owns itChat Icon We did a show together a couple of years ago. Nice guy. No idea about the place but if it's anything like his personality I'm sure it would be a good timeChat Icon

Villa Roma?

I went last year...it's still old fashion looking...gross bed quilts and old televisions in most if the rooms. But in terms of the grounds, they are In good shape and they had a new activity guy (I forgot his name) but they had a lot to do for people of all ages.
In terms of no chairs at the pool, we went Memorial Day weekend and had no problems. Sure the first tow of seats get taken quickly but there were plenty of lounge chairs in the back

Re: Villa Roma?

Our room did look a little dated but it had new quilts and flat screen TVs.

Unfortunately, this is VERY true... I'm not even kidding you when I say that the first person on line is there at like 5 am... So they wait for hours and then rush in, throw Towels down on 15 chairs (no exaggeration) and then leave... They keep trying to solve the chair hog issue and its been a little better this past year... You can get a chair far away from the pool without waiting on line but if you want to be even remotely close to the pool, yeah, 5am it is!

Eta: this is in the dead of summer which tend to be sold out weeks

Thanks. Sigh. So if anyone has been both here and Woodloch, would you say they were the same? We loved Woodloch but it was also VERY dated, not totally clean.

I haven't been to Villa Roma since I was young, but we recently went to Woodloch. I can't imagine VR even coming close. Woodloch had so much to do, it was amazing! The regular rooms do look dated, but we actually rented a house in the Springs section and it was beyond nice!

Re: Villa Roma v. Woodloch Pines

There is an indoor pool that had no lines the entire time we were there. We basically had that pool to our selves. The outdoor pool does have chairs, but I think the prime ones under the awnings go first. My FIL would take towels at 6 am and reserve 4 chairs for all of us to use. None of us had to get up that early. My in-laws would be at the pool for most of the day, but we did other things and would join them at the pool later. We would share chairs. As for what is there to do:
Tennis
Shuffleboard
Table tennis
Bocci
indoor ball pit/climbing thing/play house
arcade
xbox/ps3 room
crafts (ceramics painting, jewelry making, scarf making, kids crafts)
every night there was a show (comedy, singing, talent show, acrobats, etc.)
Huge outdoor multi-slide and climbing activity thing for kids
Swings
Paddle boats
Horseback riding
Golf
Car racing
paint ball
rock climbing
inflatable bounce slide contraption thing
Racket ball
Basketball
Squash
There is also a small mani/pedi place, and a kids drop off center too.
They have a couple of pools outside too. HTH
