Vitrex (chastetree berry) and Evening Primrose Oil
Ok I've been seeing stuff about them so I went out to the health food store today and bought a bottle of each. The directions seem to say to take 1 w/ every meal (or 3x a day). For those of you taking either of these did you start w/ 1 a day or just jump right in?
Also, what exactly should I be taking these for (yeah, i know- probably should've found that out BEFORe i bought them but the health food store was there and I kind of stopped on an impuilse). TIA!

Re: Vitrex (chastetree berry) and Evening Primrose Oil
I have not taken Vitex but I did take EPO. EPO is supposed to increase ewcm. I started with one pill twice a day with meals and it didn't seem to do anything so I bumped up to 1 pill 3x a day. I think I noticed and increase. But remember only take EPO from af-o. Once you have confirmed o stop taking it. I can cause uterine cramping when taken after o and can interfere with implantation. Vitex is supposd to help regulate hormones. It is usually used by pcos women to regulate cycles and increase the chances of O'ing. I have heard of quite a few women with pcos having sucess with it on fertility friend. It also helps with pms symptoms. I think it is 1000mg daily. You don't stop like you do with the EPO. Vitex is suposed to help keep progestrone up during your LP to help support pregnancy. Good luck

BEFORE you take anything...you MUST notify your Dr.. You don't want any herbs you take to interfere with anything the Dr. is doing. If you aren't seeing a Dr. then you can look on the net and see what you should take for your issues and usually you can find out how much. Be sure to research thoroughly, though because too much of certain herbs can be harmful.

Re: Vitrex (chastetree berry) and Evening Primrose Oil
I didn't know you had started the Metformin. Last we spoke you weren't on anything. DON"T take vitex with the metformin. Give the met time to work first. both are supposed to do the same thing. They are used to regulate hormones. Vitex is used like Metformin just like soy is used instead of Clomid. The vitamins and herbs are a holistic approach. They are not proven to work or not work.

I think this is great advice, I told my RE last IVF that I was doing accupuncture, he told me in no uncertain terms NOT to take the herbs, they interfere.
