w t f ? jury duty...
are they kidding me? I'm in eastern Suffolk and get called for jury duty in Brooklyn! yeah ok yeah... I'll be there Dec. 26th, 8am

i received the questionaire for the brooklyn federal courts like a month ago i havent heard back from them yet so hopefully i will not get picked i am also in suffolk  dec 26th are they crazy i am sorry

It's in Brooklyn because it's US District Court, and they select the jury from Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Nassau and Suffolk. I had to serve a couple of years ago and I did get reimbursed for all of my train and subway fare plus $40 a day.
Someone I worked with told me he called and was able to have them switch his service to the Central Islip courthouse - it might be worth a shot to call....

That's weird. My coworker has to call starting 12/8 and my husband just got his questionairre yesterday.
I've never been contacted for it, in the 16 years I've been registered. I wonder if I'm next.

I didn't get called until I changed my last name to my married name on my driver's license. I'd been registered to vote for 15 years also.

I went into Ulster county (upstate) court on Nov 6th...took the day off work and everything.
Was not picked for a jury- was told to keep calling in all week....was never asked back.....
Got a postcard on Friday saying I did not show up!!!!!!
Well its not my fricken fault you arseholes dont check anyone in at the door!!!

I'm in Suffolk and I got a jury summons for Brooklyn Federal court. I should have postponed - my summons had an "SP" stamped on it and I didn't know what that meant. I found out - after I get there - that it means "special proceeding" and if you are chosen, you can expect to be there for three months!!! Luckily I wasn't chosen. So, don't go if it says SP!
