Re: Wait at the pediatrician office?
Usually not that long. Mason is only 7 mons old so he goes into the room right away. I guess it depends on the day. Longest was maybe a half hour, but that's only b/c it was a storm and the Ped was stuck in traffic trying to get to the office. We had the first appt.

Re: Wait at the pediatrician office?
I ask because my office was always so good...max 20 mins. It's now turning into 1 hour everytime and with 2 kids and a 20 min drive I am thinking of switching

Re: Wait at the pediatrician office?
Ugh, this is a huge problem at my Ped's office. My son is only 4 months old, and so far 2 out of his 4 monthly appointments, I've been there for 2 HOURS!
I think 2 hours for a well visit for an infant is ridiculous. My heart races as I sit there and watch all these rambunctious kids run around the waiting room the whole time too.
ETA: My Ped is frequently mentioned on LIF, so I know others go there too.

Re: Wait at the pediatrician office?
I always ask for the first appt of the day, and it's never been more than 10 mins. I had a night emergency (when the office was open) and waited 40 mins, but when I can get the early AM appts I am in and out.

Re: Wait at the pediatrician office?
Usually less than 5 minutes. Once I brought him in during the walk-in hours when he was sick and waited for maybe 10 minutes.

Re: Wait at the pediatrician office?
Longest wait around 10-15 minutes. Unless I was late then around 20-25 minutes.

Ditto - and it's rare that we've had to wait that long. It's usually more like 10...

Re: Wait at the pediatrician office?
No more than 5 minutes. Usually, when I walk in with DD they bring her straight back because she's so young (4 months).

Re: Wait at the pediatrician office?
Wow, I need to move to LI! I only went to the ped 2x. My first visit, I waited over an hour (but it was during the holidays, and there was only 1 dr. on duty, there are usually 2 - I didn't even get to see my ped. for her first visit because he was on vacation) and the other about 1/2 hour. I think that's standard in the city.

Re: Wait at the pediatrician office?
FOREVER!!! But I like them there and I trust them for the most part so I wait.
I just schedule my day accordingly and bring along a lot to entertain them. Or I schedule it first thing in the morning.

Re: Wait at the pediatrician office?
I go to a place in Suffolk where I was running into issues with a wait (more than an hour). Come to find out, the receptionists weren't putting my appt in. (They also do walk-ins here and have great hours. Weekends and every night until 11PM which is a huge reason I don't want to switch).
After I got into an argument with a nasty receptionist at a recent visit, she told me to make sure I was getting a name of who books my appt. because they don't always log it which is why I was having to wait so much. Since I've done that, I haven't had anymore problems. Maybe a 10-15 minute wait tops!

Re: Wait at the pediatrician office?
Depends on when I go.
If it is after 3, I have waited an hour (this was in Dec and there were a ton of sick kids). If it is early in the AM, usually 15 minutes.

Re: Wait at the pediatrician office?
We are brought right into a room so we don't have to wait in the waiting room. Once we're in there, we've never waited more than 10 minutes.

Re: Wait at the pediatrician office?
It depends on which doctor I'm seeing. I always request a specific one because he usually is in the room within five minutes of the nurse doing her part, but sometimes when I have to use the other doctor I am waiting for a half hour! He is much more of a talker and is always with pharmaceutical reps. I can't stand it!

Re: Wait at the pediatrician office?
5 mins - 60 mins depending on how crowded he is. There are no nurses just the doctor so he takes a bit longer esp b.c after each visit he sits down in his office with you and talks for a few mins and answers questions.
