Wait times in OB office
Please tell me if it is normal to wait 30+ minutes for your OB appt? Or do you normally get in pretty quick?
I am seeing a new office which came highly recommended to me and is very close to my work (not even 1 block away). My 1st appt was Friday and they had to shift my appt and have me see a diff dr bc mine had a c-section and then a delivery. Ok fine I understand. But we had to wait 40 mintues to get in, then longer once in the room. And it was so unorganized and my dr. left the room twice. Actually after the sonogram he had me get dressed and said he would be right back in. Nope, he went in to see another patient then came back to me 15 min later. So overall I was there 1.5 hours and only saw the dr. for like 10 minutes total, ugh. I understand they were busy and had emergencies that day but they had like 7 girls in the waiting room and only 1 doctor there?!!? They apologized alot but I dunno me and DH were still kinda mad esp bc it was our 1st appt.
Ok then today I had to go back for my bloodwork (long story but I didnt get my bloodwork last week). But anyway I was the 2nd person to check-in - waited 25 minutes, watched 4 people get called ahead of me. So I finally said I am gonna have to come back later on I cannot wait anymore. They were like ohhhh no one called you yet, hold on. I guess they forgot about me and then quickly got me in and did my bloodwork. So yeah I dunno I am just not impressed with this place but wasnt sure if this was normal or not? I am not trying to be a complainer, I just want an understanding if this is normal, thx!

Re: Wait times in OB office
I have an awesome OB office!!
I don't wait more than 5 or 10 minutes and no more than 5 minutes once in the examining room. They do all bloodwork and sonos in office too.
They have the best scheduling!!

Re: Wait times in OB office
I am always at my OBs office for about 2 hours when all is said and done, but I only see the doc himself for maybe 10 minutes. Honestly, normally it wouldn't fly with me but I love him so much that I don't mind waiting for him.

Re: Wait times in OB office
I usually dont wait more than 15 min. Plus its first come first serve so I try to get there earlier than my appt time so I get in earlier.

Re: Wait times in OB office
My doctors office is really good. I usually have like a 5 minute wait. If i need a sonogram that wait is usually longer but to just see my doctor its nice and quick.

Re: Wait times in OB office
Not normal to me - wait time at my OB is 10-15 minutes in waiting room...unless of course there was an emergency and one of the dr's had to go to the hospital - i have seen it backed up due to that. Once in exam room, I wait no more than like 5 mins.

Re: Wait times in OB office
I wait 30 to 45 mins, total in waiting room and the exam room they totally over schedule. Then the appt is less than 10 mins.

Re: Wait times in OB office
Both my OB and high risk OB have excellent wait times. I do not think I've waited more than 15 min. -- maybe 20 maximum.

Re: Wait times in OB office
I never wait more than 5-10 minutes to see my dr and that is waitingroom and exam room wait combined. Its awesome. I also do try to get there earlier than my appt time because I have found that I get seen quicker that way.

Re: Wait times in OB office
DH wants to know the same thing. We had a 6:15 appt, got there at 6:10. We were called in around 6:30, waited another 5-10 minutes in the exam room and then met with the dr for THREE minutes (DH is getting annoyed so he actually timed it.)
I am trying to tell him that I WANT a 3 minute appointment and that maybe she needs to spend time with someone else who isn't in the best shape.

Re: Wait times in OB office
usually it is 15ish minutes. There are sometimes emergencies and i will wait longer - but that's not the norm (and I'm solo practice)
I was late with #1 and there were 3 others all late too. I had to wait 3 hours for my non-stress test, but the staff did tell us to go out and eat for a while and come back.

There are times I am right in and at others I have to wait! I've waited a 1/2 hour as well, it's so annoying.

Re: Wait times in OB office
it's hit or miss. Last night, I waited 30 minutes before I saw him. My appt. was @4:45 and I was in my car by 5:30. It stinks more for me that he's so far away from where I live but I him, so I won't find a new guy.

Re: Wait times in OB office
I'm usually in within 5-15 minutes with the nurse. Then the doctor walks in immediately afterward.
With DS#1, I started at this one office where I ALWAYS had to wait 1 hour to get in, then I'd have to wait for the doctor for another 30 minutes after the nurse weighed me. The doctor also canceled appointments often. It was beyond annoying and I changed practices.
