I thought it was great. A little slow and probably didn't need 1 1/2 hrs for it but still.
I don't get why people are upset about the ending. It's a cliffhanger like most shows when they go off. They want you to talk about it and be mad, angry, wonder,, ponder and come back for the next season.
I didn't realize how many people Neegan had. It cool to see but now we know why. Noone wants to cross him. I wonder what will happen. I'm excited for it.
totally disagree - that ending was cheap.
The entire episode was a build up.. with roadblock after roadblock (literally) thrown at them to show how bad of a situation they're in, and to see them get torn down and be totally in despair at the end when they meet Negan. We were all feeling their pain, feeling the utter hopelessness of the situation and feeling the tension of who might be killed. To have left it like that completely cheapens the death of whomever it ends up being. When we all watch again in October, we won't be in that same tense anxious mindframe, we won't be in that moment again.. we'll just be watching to see who it is and that's it. It does a disservice to the viewers and the character to end it like that. The buildup has come and gone and whenever we see who was killed, it just won't have the same impact as it would have if they did it last night (and ended it right after).
Lets face it, that show has a HUGE following. They didn't need to do that for ratings. It was a giant tease all season for who was going to die at the end of the season when Neegan was being introduced and a giant let down to how good that episode was and could have been.
ITA. This show is better than a typical cliffhanger ending. We all knew that a main character was going, they just should've ended it with us knowing who it was.
On a side note - I am totally IN LOVE the Jeffrey Dean Morgan and want to have his babies.
Agreed on all accounts.
I also love how Negan was delivered onto the show. I never read the comic (but might over the summer) so I don't know the characters, but the way we are aware that this guy is a HUGE deal, almost like a celebrity staying behind the curtain until our group was delivered to him was very powerful. How he was built up this whole season and the whistling at the end was horrific.
As much as LOVE this show, I never really ever got scared or goosebumps until the moment when they walked into the trap and all the whistling started. even the governor never "scared" me - he pisssed me off and I hated him, but I always thought he was a whiny powerless guy who was able to get something together with a few weaklings who followed him.
Negan got the biggest, baddest, worst of humanity together to do his bidding.
Whoa.
i agree that we should have at least gotten the payoff of the kill so we can spend the months mourning and processing and anticipating all the horrific ways he will hopefully die. But now you are right - we will almost be like "Oh - finally we know who is dying" and not have that same visceral reaction.
I KNEW when Negan was going on and on and on and the clock was ticking that we were going to be screwed with a to be continued....

Walking Dead gives me such bad anxiety
Of course, we don't know how TPTB are going to handle it when they come back. They talked about it some on Talking Dead, but maybe there's still some build up to who's dying and that will give the audience time to grieve the person. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't find out who it is until the 2nd or 3rd episode b/c the 1st episode shows back story on the group with the horses.

Re: Walking Dead gives me such bad anxiety
I thought the whole episode was so boring! I didn't feel the tension building at all. And I didn't find Rick believable at all, when he went form, thinking they could handle the Saviors to being surrounded by them.
Neegan himself was too over the top- it was comical. It didn't fit, b/c the show is a drama & he (according to people who have read the comics) is straight out of the comic book. It is a different tone.
I don't even really care who died. My guess would be Aaron, b/c why else was he there, but I don't even know if I will watch next season.
Even Morgan & Carol eere boring. Come back/I can't come back. . .blah blah blah.
The only thing that has left me with any curiosity is the post-apocalyptic knights. I might watch if the first few episodes are about that.

Polo, paintball or lacrosse, anyone? I mean just because it's a zombie apocalypse doesn't mean we can't play...
And this is all Glenn and Maggie's fault. If they didn't have a baby, then this never would have happened.

I was actually bored with the whole winter season. I thought it was really good in the fall but once it came back after the holidays I felt myself snoozing through most episodes. First, I absolutely HATE Michonne and Rick together, I just don't see it. AT ALL. There is NO chemistry between them. Carol makes me want to punch the TV, she's SO annoying. And there are just too many whining survivors wandering around. I felt the second half of the season was just slow and meandering and it's frustrating they ended without anyone knowing who was killed.

Re: Walking Dead gives me such bad anxiety
Wow. Maybe I'm just a simpleton...but I loved it. Loved all of it.
I agree with a previous poster. It was the first time I legitimately got SCARED in the show. That a group could be so evil and maniacal. That whistle will HAUNT me for a while!!!!
I think it's funny how many people are annoyed that they didn't show who got killed. I can think of a TON of shows that end on similar cliffhangers. And in no way did any of those mean the show was cheap or a let down. Isn't that the point of a cliffhanger??? Yes, people would tune in to next season, regardless of whether they showed it or not...so why not leave people wondering...?! Maybe I'm missing something. But I'm pretty simple when it comes to tv shows.

Walking Dead gives me such bad anxiety
I think it is 110% Abraham that was killed off
As far as cliff hangers...didn't really expect anything different. It happens on every single series.

I agree
We hated the finale. Long, way too Drawn out and a snooze fest. Then to leave it off like that? DH and I both said F this show.
We're totally over it. It won't be high on our priory TV show list next fall

ITA with you. I watched with a few friends and I usually watch it late to skip through commercials. This past Sunday, I was literally feeling nauseous during the commercials in anticipation. I am slightly annoyed that they left that big cliff-hanger but I guess it's expected so whatevs. I read someone's opinion the other day that they like that they'll get to grieve with the characters during the first episode of the next season rather than finding out and wondering how all the characters are feeling.. I thought that was a good point.. but I'm stil slightly annoyed. LOL. I felt pretty terrified when Negan's group was just whistling in a big azz circle.. they looked so freaking creepy. & I love/hate Negan.. but I'm a big Grey's Anatomy fan and the whole time I just kept thinking "poor Denny :(" LOL. I need to get use to Negan.
