Our backyard is not fenced, but we do have one. We take them into the backyard on leashes, take them for walks, or to the dog park a lot of days. I can't wait to get a fence, but for now they go when they need to in the back, they are just on a leash. They are smaller though and get a lot of exercise running around the house like crazed little beasts.

we do have a fenced-in yard, which works extremely well for owen, since he has to go very often because of his addison's disease.
but we still take our two on 2-3 20-30 minute walks a day. sure, they are a little... spoiled but they LOVE their walks so much that we continue to do it even with a yard. plus, sophie is very particular, and she won't go (not even in the yard) unless she is being walked!
