Wanted to share this with you since you all will go through this one day...
It has been wonderful getting to know my stepdaughter's boyfriend.
And because we have been so open and welcoming to him, my stepdaughter has opened up to us again and feel we finally have her back. she is working very hard through summer school and talking about college again.
He has gone from nervous as hell to very comfortable with us - comfortable enough for him to really open up to me - especially when hanging out at night this past week. We both discovered that we are writers, have similar taste in music, and movies.
This has been a tough year for us, and I think we see the light at the end of the tunnel. Having him with us makes us feel comfortable with their relationship, as well as relieve our minds that they aren't off sneaking somewhere....
He is a wonderful person, and he has even played with Cailen, who loves him.
I just wanted to share with you ladies a brief glimpse into the future. Getting to know someone your DC cares about can be a rewarding experience, and it can feel like you really are gaining another member of the family. I know they are teenagers and this won't last forever, but we are enjoying this time right now... I never thought I would feel this way....

With all your family has been through, it's nice to finally see the happiness you all deserve finally surfacing.

great news Liza! glad things are starting to get back to normal again for you and your family.
